    From Ares

The Kickstarter campaign to fund ePawn Arena, an unique board that connects mobile video games to real-world game pieces, was cancelled. Launched on July 7th, the crowdfunding project had a good support in the territories ePawn is best known, but in others it was not sufficient and the campaign could not reach the funding goal.

The ePawn team decided to cancel the campaign and re-assess its approach, as explained to the KS backers in the last project update: "We will relaunch in the next few months after ramping up our community activity and we will take advantage of the relaunch to incorporate the feedback that you gave us".

Ares Games suppports the ePawn decision and hopes the project will be relaunched in a near future with success. Licensed for the new game console, Wings of Glory should be one of the first games to be supported by an app for ePawn Arena, and many fans enjoyed the possibility of combining the traditional and digital gaming experience to play the game.

People interested on the ePawn Arena are invited to subscribe its mailing list on www.epawnarena.com and follow the Facebook page or twitter account to get regular updates on the project.

I won't say I regret that. Considering what a boardgame/tabletop wargame is - that was a weird idea.

He could have been the one who tipped the balance between success and failure

Can't say I'm surprised. What they were looking to raise was quite a large sum of money and the pitch didn't seem unique enough. They needed a unique first offering and then to add extra games (like Wings of Glory) as stretch goals.

As for freeing Ares resources, I can't imagine they were committing much at such a early stage. But for now the distraction has been removed.

Although I thought the machine gun fire was pretty cool, it seemed limited by the fact planes couldn't fly over/under each other. In other words, altitude was not a considered. For those using the altitude rules, I would think it would be a step backward.

Well I am a bit sad about it. I was hoping to get a model Tardis on there and to get my German Bots to say Exterminate before they opened fire
