    Default WWI Sopwith Camel

Sopwith Camel I'm not real pleased with landing gear. I just couldn't get them to hang.

compared to the SPAD XIII. I'm not sure why, but this model ended up a touch bigger after scaling.
First attempt at fabricating guns. I still have work to do there. In the pics, they look too beefy.

Excellent model, Greg. Not an easy one. I've also made one so I do know.

Two things. The Ares Spad XIII is a tad smaller than the real 1/144 scale.
When re-sizing a model you can't forget to see if your printer is re-sizing for margins.

How have you done the base? It looks awesome.

That is truly inspiring as a card model goes Greg.
I could never aspire to anything like that, and I have done a fair bit of card work in my time.

You are much too kind! Thank you.

Joachim, thanks for the advise. Your work has inspired me to get better!
As for scaling, I thought I did it right, but I see that the planes may all not be scaled to one another...
The one thing I really like about the paper models (other than the challenge) is the thinness of the wing and the overall finish that can be achieved. They look and feel more in scale than the thicker heavier plastic molds. They just seem very true to the materials that were used back then.

The base is a thin plexi I had saved. Approx. 1/8 inch.
I marked the base, CA glue a small piece of the plexi on top of the center dot and drilled the hole.
The extra piece on top gives the flight peg smoothing to sit into, otherwise it wobbles. I drill it out smaller than I need and use a round hobby file to get it just right so that the peg fits snug. I like free, too!! I'm a big supporter of scrounging materials for my hobbies. Fabricating is fun.
