Thread: Ilyushin Il-2 Sturmovik Official Painting Thread

Default Ilyushin Il-2 Sturmovik Official Painting Thread

These are my Ilyushin Il-2 Sturmovik from AIR200 in 1/200 scale in Winter camouflage.

This AIR200 model isn't that good... I'll have to acquire a AIM model to see the differences.

Tired of the all white and red, I've used some green in one of them. They're ready for some German armor.

    Nice looking targets there, Joaquim
With all these winter camo planes, you need to get a snowscape matt.

    Indeed I do.
Thanks for the kind words, Karl.

As you know Quim, these aircraft are not within my area of expertise, but that does not mean that I can't recognise a lovely job when I see it.

An Ilyushin Il-2 Sturmovik Model 1941 returning from a strike against the Hitlerites. Shapeways WSF print from AE Models, with Vallejo paint, Mehusla decals, and an AA 19mm propeller disc. Was a little hesitant about going with that size disc at first, but after looking at pictures of the real aircraft, it felt like the way to go, and I think it looks right--the Il-2 is a big beast, just as large as a P-38.

These are ZVEZDA 1/144 models. I later repainted the 2 with brown to the same scheme as the lead plane.

Here are two LaGG 3's in the same scheme and an F-Toys P-39. I decided on the light green/black green scheme for my Russian planes.

Don't remember where they come from , there's one zvezda , the one without rear gun

OK, I'm working up a new card for this plane, but nobody seems to have units (or crews) listed.

Also, there are, at least, three different versions above.

Could one of the posters above start a new thread in the Hobby Room, showing their plane and some info on the unit/crew, and I will start doing up a few cards for that version. Other posters could add their planes and units, and I could, perhaps, produce a few different cards based on the Unofficial Stats:

    Ilyushin Il-2 Shturmovik (Single): I*, A-C-C/C, -, 22
Ilyushin Il-2 2/M Shturmovik (Two-seater): I*, A-C-C/C, A/A, 22 (This would cover both the early straight wing, and later swept-back wing, versions)

First draft plane image (No particular unit/crew):

    More excellent work,

Worthy of REP but I can't give you any for this one having just done so for the P-39s.
