Thread: Biplane Painting - commission

    Default Biplane Painting - commission

    Hi all

Bit of an odd one, this.

I have been approached by a professional figure painter, who has been asked to paint a large number (around 100?) of "15mm" scale WW1 biplanes for a client.
He says he has no experience of painting aeroplanes, and wonders whether any of us would be interested in taking on the work.

I have the painter's contact details - if anyone is interested, please PM me and I will pass the details on to you (I'm not keen on posting his details on an open Forum).

I don't have any details regarding models, nationality or the monetary total on offer - please discuss these with the chap himself.

Interesting project, but like Chris I'm struggling to find time to paint what I've got, let alone anyone else's.

    Me too!

He saw several trays of my repaints, and I think he hoped I might take it on myself.
Unfortunately, I have far too any of my own planes to do.

I think most of us are in the same position Tim. Also whilst painting your own models is a labour of love doing someone elses, for the return that you get, is sweated labour.

Yeah, huge job, especially given the vague request - "15mm" rather suggests the 1/100 range from Old Glory, which means a hell of a lot of *assembly* - building biplanes makes painting them seem like a joy....
