Thread: Meeting Guus at Den Hague

  1. #1

Default Meeting Guus at Den Hague

Yesterday I went to Den Hague and I've met Guus (Aardvark1430). It was a beautiful trip by train and Den Hague is beautiful.
Guus is a gentleman and a very interesting person. We've talked and played two games and time escaped us like a P-40 diving into it's target.

I've also met his very nice wife and dog. It was an excellent evening and we've maneuvered our kites while we've talked about it all.

We've played a dogfight. Snipes vs. the beautifully painted Guus D.VII's.

And then a scouting mission, where the Germans had to take some photos of coastal defenses. Udet was there. He was lucky.

    The Camels defending their ground.

And then a quick finishing of the second mission to catch the train back to Haarlem.

Thanks, Guus, for a perfect evening.

Glad you're meeting some fellow gamers and getting in some gaming, Joaquim! Makes all the difference in settling into a new environment

I love the Stark DVII repaints - very cool representations!

Hope all continues to go well with your 'transplantation'...

    All the best,
    Matt

Perfect! Another shining example how the game gets people together.
It would not be me if I did not ask about the drinks...

I'm very pleased that you are settling in well Quim.
Den Haag is one of my favourite cities too, and not just because I have been visiting for over 50 years.
I love the clean lines and colours of the buildings and wide streets, plus the fact that History is around every corner from the Rittersaal to the Gevangenpoort.
As soon as you are ready, we will try and get over for a reunion with you.

Today I've been at Den Hague to visit Guus again. This time the plan was WW2. I've took some planes and the rule to teach Guus how to play Wings of Glory WW2.
    And so we've started.

Guus took two Wildcats and I've fielded two Zeroes. I was confident that my planes would do the job. This one is Blackronin, I told Guus. Then he offered me a beer... Sneaky move...

Blackronin went down in flam... malt...

Never mess with a Dutch in a Wildcat...

But then Guus was caught in his own trap... Beer for two, you know?!

This last photo is for dear Andy, since he asked for the beverage in my last meeting with Guus.

Once again thanks, Guus for an excellent afternoon!
    More will follow.

    Default after drinks ...

    Hey Joaquim,
nice after drinks ... oops ... after battle report I mean of course.
As it seems Flying Officer Kyte / Rob knows you better than I do.
So I'll go with his suggestion and next time we wiil drink jenever , it will give both of us some "Dutch courage".
Aah and btw, did you know the British "modelled" gin after Dutch jenever. Great inventors, the Dutch are

    Cheers,
    Guus
