Sorry but I will not be able to make it this weekend as I have a long booked weekend Wargame in Scarborough. 15mm Battle of Liepzig so no planes or boats I'm afraid.
You will have to do the BoB without my JU88's (the single German Aircraft to cross the English Coastline at Doncaster- OK I know the other three had all been shot down by then but still!). Good luck for whatever games you put on.

Hi John - Yes XD Deck <-> HB Base. Your idea sounds much better

Reg - Sorry we will not be seeing you at Derby this year. Hope all goes well for you in Scarborough.

    UFF - Unfit For Flying

Terribly sorry but I did not sleep at all last night and my ability to concentrate is shot to sh*t as a result ... Just feeling and fearing that if I attempt to play or join a large game what everybody will get from me is a below-par performance riddled with stupid / fatigued mistakes.

Maybe best to hope for a better night's sleep tonight and come along tomorrow.

Never mind come along and pilot a Zeppelin tomorrow. We have 3 on the table! Chris you can only fly 1 Brisfit not 2, but you'd better bring the night fighter variant...hint, hint.

    Bad News II

I'm very sorry but it looks like I am going to have to miss Sunday too now. I have managed to get some rest (still don't feel 100%) but news from FT just came in. Covering Ground School next week too now as Instructor is still UFF due to appendicitis.

I need to travel up to Leeds / Bradford again tomorrow afternoon in order to make a Monday morning start so this would entail me having to leave around lunch time in order to prepare. Disappointed that I am going to have to miss out as that offer of flying a Zeppelin sounded very tempting - maybe on November 29th when I will DEFINITELY be making up for lost time

Had three cracking games on the WW2 table today,
The Italians destroyed the British airbase quite comprehensively, and I almost made it back, but Andy's (Hawkhurst) overgunned Hurricane (20mm cannon armed MkIIc) was unbeatable.
FO Kyte vectored a pair of Mosquito FBVIs onto the Gestapo compound to devastating effect, destroying a 109 on the way. The supporting Spit IXs were massacred by the inbound Fw190s, but they were in turn destroyed by the Mossies on the way out. The last german pilot was a game 190 which went head on against a Mossie with fatal consequences.
    The last game was BoB.
A huge swarm of Huns were met by a galant few, 16v8. Mallory's big wing (10) finally stopped the German push just short of the 111s drive on Tangmere. At 1600hrs, I called time (the kettle was on for tea). A moral victory for us, most of the German bombs had hit Radar installations, only one pub was hit, leaving the Red Lion, both NAAFI vans and the first aid posts untouched, and just the outlying mechanical workshops at Tangmere damaged, both runways still operational.

A day at the seaside, followed by some rhubarb crumble tommorow, then back to the seaside for some yachting perhaps!

The large plastic box lid with a single Spitfire represents Mallory's Big Wing of 10 Spits in formation. A useful conceit considering we were getting pasted otherwise.
Much thanks to Rob for putting on the first game, and to Andy and Rob for running the damage chits and score keeping while I drove the bomber fleets and called out the shooting results.

Looks like the forum software has eaten/lost the attachment files, which is why the post now just contains links to non-existent file references.

Probably better to use a dedicated image hosting service and just link to the photos.

Great day on the Saturday - bought another very pretty 23 Squadron Spad VII and immediately had it join the other three in a scrap against the dastardly Hun in his obviously over gunned Albatross D.IIs. Hmm on the back of a 3-0 victory for the Tim and his Huns I am left pondering... in the last three scraps where the Spads have taken to the sky they are 0-10 against the Germans, very pretty, very fast, no turn and only one gun... not a recipe for success. They also are a bit flimsy... who draws a boom card for a slight collision - I mean honestly ? and Trev hadn't even arrived at that point, so couldn't blame the result on some bottom deck dealing.

A bit of close order flying admiring each other's planes before the Hun interrupted...

Bit quieter on the WW1 table in the morning with the Wing Commander and the honourable Mr John Biggles monopolising the punters on the WW2 table.

Perked up after lunch with a bit of a scrap between Brisfits and D.VIIs - finally a win for the RFC with my brace helping us to a 3-2 win.

Had a very profitable day at the bring and buy and despite leaving my camera at home (sorry Tim) it was a most enjoyable day, plenty of polo shirts about to keep the action flowing thick and fast all day. Sorry I can't be with you all on the Sunday, have a great day and let me know what Neil's mystery plane is...

John you haven't just gone and bought Sails have you? Those photos of yours that I can see on my phone are looking great.

Oh and bought some nice islands for SoG, so too did Rob and Chris I believe. One of many good hints and ideas from Tim this weekend and you should have seen the size of the one he had in his hands too and I can quite categorically state it had no sails! (Did it Tim?)

Yes, I should have taken client-finding commissions from several vendors this weekend; no sooner did I suggest a possible supplier of a given item, then off folks marched and returned laden down with stuff!

And, no, there were indeed no sails on the big-ass two decker that Neil tried to saddle me with! 3 masts, lots of gun ports, but NO SAILS!!!!

6mm train sounds like Irregular Miniatures. Believed they had trade stand at DWW and was going to look into them for the same. Please could you bring with Shapeways and Aim stuff to Galactic Models on November 29th as v interested.

Loads of people loaded down with game stuff sounds brilliant. Sounds like Derbyshire needs a full-time stockist. Will inform GM on my return home got to pick up from there at the mo

You are correct Barney, Irregular Miniatures it was.
They have a good web site, and will sell anything you can identify from their pictures as an individual piece. You don't have to buy a set.
The trains are in their 6mm Accessories section.
I bought some PzIIIs, PzIVs and StugIIIs, plus two Bofors, to go with the locomotive and tender I got.
Unfortunately Tim had preceeded me to the stall, so all the flat cars had gone. In fact almost all the rolling stock suitable for 20th C europe had gone.

Irregular Miniatures are based in York and manufacture unpainted railway tracks as well as rail vehicles in 6mm scale. Would definitely be interested in taking a closer look at these in real life being a 3D scenery fan.

BTW on subject of Shapeways and AIM did you know about the TOTS event on October 18th? The One True Scale event is 1200 scale only from across the wars at Midland Air Museum in Coventry.
