    Default Storage and Travel Box

    Hello Everybody,

I have attached some progress photos of a travel and storage box I am currently working on for my Wings minis.
I have been using a fabric shopping bag to move my minis around when I found a fishing box my father had made of timber in his shed.
This struck me as a design I could use to create a box of my own.

Here are the results to date, it has been a few months in the process, I plan to stain it.

So far I have used 6-8mm ply wood, 16mm bullet head nails and some dressed pine of varying sizes.

Let me know what you think.

    Regards

The draws will be lined with pick and pluck foam from battle foam, the trays are 40mm deep, and battle foam make trays at 38mm, the space between the draws is 50mm, so I will be able to store the manoeuvre deck and base upright beside the mini.

Once the foam arrives I will get some more photos.

Also, the front of the box will be hinged, and the area for the damage decks will have a cover as well, so they will stay in place when the box is sealed up.

I will also add a space for the range rulers above the damage cards.

    More photos to follow!

    Regards

Are you going to put a handle on top, or maybe wheels?

    Wheels, definitely wheels!
A wooden case that size, stuffed with minis, will be a git to carry after a couple of hundred yards.

Wow, I admire your skill with wood. Wood seems very appropriate somehow. Well done that man!

I wouldn't use the word skill, it has been more luck and happen stance than anything else!

I have a brass handle to attach, but I need to remeasure it a bit first. It's next on the list.

But I will also be staining the box as well so I will test fit everything first and then stain it.

Don't think wheels will work, as its only 45cm high, I would be bent double to push it!

Then, with the wheels, you might consider one of these: telescoping handle

Thank you, I actually stole the idea from my father, he had a fishing tackle box that was a little smaller than mine that I used as a template, so really credit should go to him!

I have little in the way of wood working skills, this was all trial and error, if I take close-ups, all my credibility will disappear!
I just attempted to make it as simple as possible.
But thank you for the kind remarks.

The badges are yet to be fixed in place, I have to cover the inside of the lid with some blue felt, but alas, I didn't take into account how thick the felt would be with the cards, and I now have to shave of around 2-3mm out of each recess for the damage decks.
Not happy with myself, but there it is.

Templating/proto-typing always has a learning curve to get around. The results are awesome, nonetheless. Bravo.
