Thread: Is this some kind of record?

Default Is this some kind of record?

I was bidding for this on eBay, obviously someone else needed it more than I. I know they are OOP but is this some kind of record price for a fighter? Jeez

I saw a MvR triplane go for over $100 a few years back

Mmmmm, yes, I watched this one vanish into the stratosphere!

I have seen a trio of Fokker DVIIs go for £48, £50 and £52 within a few minutes of each other, a couple of years ago.
Also, Albatros DIIIs have occasionally touched the £50 mark.

Same here - the same Seller also had a Bader Hurricane / Vybral Spitfire and a Stuka up for auction at the same time. The Stuka went for £23 and the other two sold for around the £36 mark ... Counted in excess of 10 bids on all except the Hurricane which had 6 placed on it. Was going to bid myself but these prices except for the Stuka are verging on the silly side ...

The Falkowski Spitfire made £27 and the Bader Hurricane £31; glad I bought a Bader from Ludikbazaar last year for 15 Euros.

Beg your pardon ... I stand corrected - thanks for that.

Still quite excessive prices - and the other thing was that none of that Seller's offerings were unopened: All were listed as used and two of them were placed wrongly in their boxes. The Messerschmitt being one of them. See photo from E-Bay.

Many wonder why I am uber-careful when it comes to my Collection. Mind you when I started playing WGS I had no idea that what I would be using to play are potential collectors' items!

I learned very early on that the Wings of War are the most collectible and sought after of them all - Especially the ME.109s Spitfires and the Bader Hurricane Mk 1. Only have one of the ME.109s out of them and that cost £35 unboxed but with a complete set of kit attached to it. This aircraft turns out to be the 'Molders' Edition and does not get used for regular gameplay: In fact it resides upstairs in my mainline aircraft collection to commemorate my first ever game of WGS at Hammerhead 2015.

I see also he has a 5 box set of JU87, Hurricane and 3 520's. At last count around £36. You could buy most of those, less JU87 for around $20($5 each) at miniature market.. Very excessive if you ask me IMHO.
See you on the Dark Side......

I picked up 2 Stukas a few months back, albeit the Italian one not the German which perhaps is why the price went higher for this specimen? As I paid IIRC £11 or £12 per each on eBay again, both in perfect condition I still reckon I got a bargain.

I've thought of doing the same, and since that works out a lot less per plane than a certain firm in Nottingham is charging for the current releases I think I'll follow your lead. How long did delivery take?

About 10 days altogether. I couldn't wait until later in the year and we get re-releases (maybe).

Well all those silly prices just means that a reprint of the WWII series 1 probably isn`t all that far off.

Hope so - that's why I've stopped buying BOB minis on ebay; I'm waiting for regular priced new releases.

I am preferring to play the waiting game as well. Glad when re-released the BOB will be more regularly priced. There are some Messerschmitt Bf.109s for sale on E-Bay at the moment ... for GBP (£) 60.00 each.

Bit of a mystery: Why does the Le Mesurier (reconnaissance grey) Spitfire always sell for bargain bucket prices compared with the other two versions (Vybral et al) ... I have one and nearly had Vybral for £35.00 until the seller ran out of stock today!!!

I just cleaned out a Canadian retailer of his IV/LG1 Stukas for $8.95 Canadian each (£5-ish). He has a few other planes and bits of Wing of War stuff, too, including the Sugaroni Stuka for similar prices. Nothing that isn't in bargain bins elsewhere, but at the current exchange rates, that means the planes are on for under $8 US.
