Thread: Anyone got their new planes from Keith yet?

Default Anyone got their new planes from Keith yet?

Just wondering if anyone in the UK who ordered the new planes from Aerodrome Accessories has received them yet. Haven't got mine, but not sure if they are delayed in Customs somewhere waiting for them to come up with an imaginative figure to charge for duty.

    Answers on a postcard please....

Mine are still in the ether Steve - but I know that Chequers' batch has arrived as he was waxing lyrical about the flying boats at the club last Sunday

Nothing for me yet either Steve.
Keith posted my Aircraft, a set of altitude pegs, SoG Starter set and the Victory et al all under separate cover on the 25th, and I have not even had a come and pay an extortionate amount to get them out of hoc from Parcelfarce yet.

I had a demand for money with menaces on Tuesday, but it turned out to be a load of stands I ordered some time back. I was assuming that these and the planes might have been sent out at the same time, but apparently not.

OK, I'll sit tight. Brian, did Chequers get hit by Customs? If not that might explain why he has already got his.

I got home tonight to find a Royal Mail card trumpeting an International parcel awaiting collection at my local Parcel Office (half-mile away).
I suspect it's my AA order, but I'll only find out for certain tomorrow.

Not even a demand for money in the post today.
Looks like Monday at best now.

I picked my package up this morning

The whole series of 12 planes, plus a load of bases, seven bags of pegs and extra markers and prop rulers. Actually two orders combined into one (thanks, Keith!).

    No Customs charges!!!!!

I think I'll put an order in before Origins and pick up over there. Seems hit and miss with the customs.

Bit of Super Glue soon amended that problem.

    The real damage.
Ł26 for import tax and handling.
Thought I got away with it lightly for that lot.
A big thank you to Keith.

I second the thanks to Keith Rob - and even with the import tax I think I got a cracking deal.

Actually don't mind the import tax - it's the inconsistent application, and the Ł8 handling fee I find a bit vexing

Me too Brian. Charging Ł8.00 for the privilege of going and picking it up yourself seems a bit rich.

Well, it's official - the Royal Mail are at best incompetent or at worst a bunch of thieving b******s (or possibly a bunch of thieving incompetent b******s)

Went to sorting office yesterday who checked and found no sight of my series 8 planes. Emailed Keith who gave me tracking info that showed they hit our shores on May 1st. Given the lead time it's too late to claim off of Paypal so now I have to go through the nonsense of making a compo claim against the Post Office.

Not a happy bunny............ Oh well, my loss is Dom Skelton's gain, I suppose. (Don't lose them Dom! )

Sorry to hear your news Gunners - now all you need to round of RM's "thieving incompetent b******s" status is for them to demand the Ł8 handling fee for the import tax even though they've misplaced the actual parcel

JOKE - honest, joke!!!!!! please don't let the Postal Gods read this post

Steve that is terrible news. Very sorry to hear about this substantial loss.

I have had to make a compensation claim against RM not so long ago and know what this involves. Let us hope that if your parcel has come up for delivery as this is when you are charged VAT and Duty etc that it is a sign that this matter is back in order for you. After all VAT and Duty charges on a standard import have to actually be levied against 'labelled or documented items' (with a customs declaration form on the side of the parcel - it's the only way the value of the item can be determined to my knowledge.)

Thoughts are with you and fingers are crossed.

    That is a bummer Steve.
I have only once had a parcel go astray, and that eventually turned up six months later in a blokes greenhouse two streets away. It was his safe delivery place, and he had been away working in the Middle East. Of course the street name Canarvon and Carisbrooke are easily confused by a .......... postman.

Ouch. :-( My worst loss was a Ł250 bundle of decal paper once. Tracked from Illinois to Rotherham, disappeared between Rotherham and Sheffield.... A couple of thoughts before abandoning hope though:

    1. USPS tracking numbers are compatible with UK systems. So stick the tracking number in on both the Royal Fail and Parcel Farce websites. (Their systems are separate, and as it'll be a largeish box, it may well have gone to Parcel Farce....)

    2. If it doesn't show up on either, it means it's never cleared customs - if it made it any further than that, there should be a tracking trace to indicate how far it made it....

    3. Either way, you'll have no joy putting a claim in yourself - Keith'll need to do it at his end - even when the failing is in the recipient country, it's the sender that has any insurance.

Dom, off to find a box....

Only one claim? Lightweight I've had to put in 3 before now - one for a parcel that went MIA, one for a parcel that actually made it to the pick-up office, but as they didn't bother putting a note through the dooor informing me it got sent back to the States after a month, and a third for a parcel that sat 3 days in the rain under a hedge where our Polish/Lithuanian/Estonian postie had lobbed it..

Thats useful info Dom, cheers. I'll do a bit of sleuthing on Royal Fail/Parcel Farce sites then have another word with Keith if it's still AWOL.

Edit: Looks like it didn't even get out of Customs. The tracking number wasn't recognised by RM, and PF said "We are currently unable to confirm that status of your parcel" - status options presumably being "lost" or "nicked"

Hmm, I'm not entirely sure the fail's at the UK end then. There's always a tracking "black hole" for the actual international flight, so it could still be in a bonded warehouse in Gatwick, or it could have derailed somewhere between the final US scan and the actual plane.... I'm just trying to remember if that's Parcelforce's default wording for "we've never seen this number before" or whether it's a "we have, but have no idea where it ended up"....

Royal Fail or ParcelFarce failing to deliver something isn't odd - it's depressingly predictable. USPS having a UK-generated tracking trace that the domestic tracking doesn't is a new one on me though - that's the odd bit.... As you say, though, hopefully plan B will come good today....

Plan B came good just now with two Royal Fail blokes in a van, ta very much Dom. Proably sent two - first one to deliver and the second to make sure the first didn't half-inch it

Glad to learn of Plan B's success ... I can uncross my fingers now

Just hope that there are no demands for Ł8 Royal Fail handling fees after everything which has happened. I have a B-52 in my attic on standby (big b***er as well by Corgi!) Ready to go and assist a friend should they even think of being so cheeky!

Any explanation or apology from them by any chance ...

Actually Plan B was to get a set from Doms Decals in the UK. Still need to have a chat with Royal Fail/Customs/Keith about getting compo for the missing set.

    Default The final word

Nailed down the fact that my parcel went missing between the point Royal Fail picked it up and our local parcels office. This is acknowledged by RM, but the utter stupidity of it is that I can't claim for a lost parcel. It's Keith that has to do this via USPS, so we should get a result by the time series 9 is ready to ship (or putting it another way, a looooooong time from now).

    Currently hacked off beyond belief.......

I've never had any problems like that at all! Feeling bad for you Steve.

I had one parcel from the Netherlands get returned to the sender after a week in my local Post Office; they failed to put a card through the door, so I knew nothing about it. The seller refunded my money, and re-listed the item on ebay, and SOMEONE ELSE GOT IT!!!!!

My most recent Shapeways order came by UPS, and since I was not in it was taken to a "local" delivery centre. The card said "with your neighbour @<illegible>". On-line, I found that it had gone to an Indian Off-Licence corner shop 5 miles away! I went to pick it up (they stayed open until 22:00, useful!), but it was a damned strange place to store UPS parcels for pick-up.

I'm getting very edgy about things that take ages to come through. fortunately one of my neighbours is usually in, but you don't always get a card as you say.
I'm awaiting a delivery right now that was sent out at the start of last week.

So basically you are suggesting that I give Royal Fail a second go at f*****g up a delivery from the U.S. then?

This appears to be par for the course around here. I had a book go missing this month as well, but managed to get a replacement. A couple of years ago a parcel of WoG goodies got sent back to sender after 3 weeks because the useless sods didn't put a card through my door. I managed to get it re-sent for a nominal amount for postage. The trouble appears to be that nobody in RM takes ownership of a problem. If they know they deffo had a parcel at one time but it went MIA on its way to a parcel office, you'd think they might want to find out what happened for their own benefit, in case there was pilfering to investigate. The parcel office manager's attitude was - well, s**t happens sometimes.

Edit: Actually getting a bit worried now as I have a large order from AIM inbound. Place your bet on whether it arrives.
