On Saturday I played with my daughters (10 & 7) a WGF game and wanted to test the new birds from series 8.
First game:
Girls love the coulorful WGF planes and especially the twoseaters (the can shoot rearwards!), so they choosed the Hannover CL.IIIa and a Bristol Fighter.
To give them a chance I choosed my Fokker D.VIII and an Albatros D.II
The first 3 maneuvers brought my Fokker out of the gaming area (wide turn to to the right/straight/straight). I misjudged the speed of the new plane completely and left the battlefield instead of flying at the edge.
But when the Fokker returned it scored a lucky hit versus the Hannover. (The Hannover has an interesting movement deck with sharp turns.)
Meanwhile the Bristfit set my Fokker on fire.
Lucky me - I only drawed low damages.
When the Hannover returned, my Albatros D.II managed to stay on it’s six and brought it down.
My older daughter fought well and more tricky then her sister, but a few unlucky hits silenced the rear gunner and finally brought it down.
The Albatros D.II has only one damage point left and the Fokker D.VIII was in a good condition. Nice plane.
Second game:
The girls were not amused about the outcome and I promised them a more balanced fight.
They choosed a Breguet BR.14 B2 (B/A) and the new Nieuport 28. My youngest doughter loved the sharkmouth.
I choosed a Morane Bullet.
This game was a dogfight. Each plane was an enemy.
(My mother watched the game because my youngest daughter told her about the disastrous first game)
The end of my early war plane came fast with the very first shooting.
Combined fire and two engine hits sent the Bullet to the ground.
The Breguet was credited with the kill.
I returned to the battlefield and meanwhile the Nieuport had set the Breguet on fire.
Just before the Breguet's deadly rear guns could inflict more damage an unlucky fire damage draw let the two seater explode. Kill was credited to the Nieuport.
We finished this game and the girls were happy that both of them scored an aerial victory.
The new series 8 WGF planes are beautiful.
Maybe I’ll buy a second Nieuport 28, soon.
