Does anyone have an ETA of the Ares gaming mats?
I recently bought one and was very impressed.
Unfortunately they seem to be like golddust (and a hundred times more expensive) at the moment.
And I think I heard tell of some new designs, yes?

Might be worth having a look on Amazon just now Ian.
They had some on this morning.

I'm sure Keith posted that there's a reprint on the horizon (June maybe?) so they're in the pipeline, although the usual time to market for us Brits probably means August or thereabouts.
Amazon was advertising some available at GBP / £40.00 and upwards today. I am keeping a very careful eye on this same subject as it happens and the latest according to my thread was that Ares may reissue some of the Official Gaming Mats in around August 2015. When these are produced they will become available at more like normal RRP - which is what I am hoping too.
Should you be unable to wait that long there is always the Do It Yourself option - DIY option like this example made by myself measuring 120 cm x 120 cm.
Bob Dunkin Gaming Mats first struck with a DIY 90 cm x 90 cm gaming mat or 'compact gaming environment' which featured the same 3D scenery in March 2015. Although constructed from N Gauge train scenery these mats have proven to be durable and functional in terms of how easy it is to move across them etc. Only problem is that I have been unable to laminate the play surface and initially being cardboard-backed these mats need to be weighted down at the corners. However cost price to produce so far has never exceeded GBP / £23.50.

Hi Ian
Have you tried Stafford Games?
I have just looked and they seem to have the City map for about £25
Here is the LINK
Thanks Barnaby.
That looks quite similar to a 6' x 4' Games Workshop rollout flocked mat I used to have.
But the flock went everywhere.
Is this one similar?
I will have a look Trev, ta much.
I already have the City mat and that seems to be a bit more widely available at the moment but I am intending to have one each of the current three patterns and, if there are new versions of the Flight of Giants poster mats being given the full treatment, I don't want to duplicate.
And it's getting difficult to hide these things from SWMBO
Not too sure what 'flock' is but the grass surface of both DIY (Bob Dunkin) Gaming Mats has only just stopped rubbing off particularly when the mats are rolled / unrolled. Never mentioned this before as problem is only a temporary one - also quite a funny one when using the large mat and coming out of Galactic Models Gaming Night (Wednesdays / Derby, UK) covered in green specks! However despite this the mat definitely does what it says on the tin and for a sensible price ...
I never knew Games Workshop manufactured Gaming Mats - and never knew there was any Gaming Mat which reached anything like 6 ft x 4 ft in parameter. Very interesting. Thanks for sharing that
