Default Another rare airplane will find it's new home

That's a breaking news here, chaps:
On April 29th, a Hercules C-130 of Polish Air Force transport plane specially sent to Lahti, Finland is going to bring one of the two survived Caudron CR. 714 Cyclone WWII fighter that will be displayed in Cracow Air Museum. Thanks to agreement signed with The Finnish Air Museum, the plane will undergo a careful restoration process here (some engine and cockpit parts are missing). They say it is going to be a part of the regular exhibition for unlimited amount of time (whatever it means).
The type is very special for our aviation history. Groupe de Chasse Polonaise de Varsowie GC 1/145, a special fighter unit formed in France was defending Paris in the French Campaign of 1940.
Here is a picture of the plane and the scheme they will use to restore it.

Good for the Cracow Air Museum's collection, and closer, perhaps to you.

Thank you, I love seeing the rare war birds.

    Best,
    Mel

    Hi Mel,
it is very close to my place (less than 2 driving hours) and the Museum is stunning already!

Here is how it is inside, where you can have a rest with beautiful girls (me, my wife on the left and my buddy's wife on the right). They loved the exhibits!

    A unique plane, indeed.

I'm glad that the Museum restocks the exhibition with those planes and hope they'll grow their collection.

Great photo Andrzej, my friend. Hope all is well in your neck of the woods...looks so by the photo.

Just ran across another plane recently restored...a rare Spitfire Mark 1A put up for auction at Duxford.

It is good that the Finish Air Museum was willing to share its exhibit.

I don't remember that canteen being there when I visited Andy. Must make another trip once the Caudron is on display. Mind you, it wasn't the best plane to be taking on 109s with.......

The canteen has been established among many other innovative projects inside during the modernization of the Museum building that took place in recent years (10 mln Euro project). There is also a nice Feldkino of the era built inside . You definitely should visit it again, Steve. I will take Sven there, during his planned visit to me in September.

Of course I know the plane was no match for Bf 109, but for our pilots it must have been a capable modern fighter, considering what they had at their disposal in September 1939. .

Thanks for the heads up Andy. Great aircraft and the museum looks nice as well.
Hope to visit one day myself.

Yes, I forgot the museum has had a revamp. I knew the French offloaded a few Caudrons to the Finns but had no idea that any survived.

So where's the stats for these? They saw some combat in France (12 confirmed kills, no less).

Pity its performance was so awful -- nice-looking bird.

Interesting, and a nice thing for the museum.
I hadn't heard of this plane before; must look into it.
