Lightbulb Don`t Try this at home!

The Fighter Factory is testing their V1 pulse jet this week. The only link i could find is through Facebook.

Well, it works, sort of. I know that it's just a cheap metal tube, but I hope it wasn't damaged from burning. It is an original, after all.
Amazing what that crew is up to.

One of my mum's wartime memories was the sound of V1 pulse jets as they passed overhead on the way to London - very distinctive noise

It was when they stopped making a sound that you had to worry !

Totally different. Now i know why at times it is painted and at others not. When the paint comes off in sheets.

Fortunately? only one doodlebug dropped on the village - it did some damage to the back gardens of a few houses. That's what happens when you live c30 miles from London on the flight-path of V weapons

Well its certainly the biggest paint stripper I've ever seen. Are those chaps extremely foolhardy or brave to stand that close to a rocket engine of unknown proof.

Those people are all paid professionals, mostly the young ones i might add! I liked the fact is parked near the tow motor and the tow motor is parked across it`s path! The neighbors might complain about rocketing through their living room!
If you look at some of the posts from mid March they were testing most of the big radial aircraft. I am waiting for them to crank up the Mossy!

Did the Germans have better heat-resistant paint because a smoke trail like that would make the bomb easy to spot?

All these radio-controlled drones will make it easier to build your own cruise missile. Chris.

First-gen, hell... all that stands between a garage builder and a Tomahawk is a little computer knowledge to build the guidance system and the motivation. Hell, one of my frat-brothers thought the four of us had the practical knowledge to build a primitive ICBM if we put our minds to it...

For the record, my response: "Yeah, it'd be kinda cool, but WHY? Where would we test it on? Where would we launch it from? Where would we even ASSEMBLE the damn thing, never mind store it?" That's why I was the brains of the outfit, despite one of our number having considerably higher IQ...)

Very true DB. It's not so much the IQ, it's the way you use it that counts.

On my visit today our guide mentioned some noise complaints were received. The local horse owners reported the unhappy hay burners! This is the great part. They run radial and piston engines constantly. F-18`s from NAS Oceania are overhead day and night at all noise levels. A little pulse jet upsets them!

P.S. the Mossy, Spit and Hurricane are all in for checks run ups cannot be far away!

    That should be great Rich.
When they were testing Spitfire engines at Hucknall Aerodrome, we could hear it being run despite the blast walls and we live eight miles away.

Maybe it's the uncommon sound of a V weapon engine...

Do they test Stuka sirens there, too?

The museum does not have a Stuka. The owner said they have found some wrecks in Russia, maybe some day. They do have one of these, they fire it at the WW2 air show in May!
