    Hello,

My name is Alan and I have just joined the forum. I have been wargaming for 44 years, in that time I have played a lot of different periods (Ancients, Napoleonic's, American Civil War etc..). In the last 10 years or so World War I airplanes have played a significant part. I have a lot of planes that I use to run campaigns with 2 friends that live in Hastings. I would be interested in meeting other like minded individuals.

This is a picture of two of the shapeways planes that I have.

Is any body going to Salute on the 25th April and are they running a game ?, as I will be there playing in an Agincourt 1415 game using Impetus rules. It may be possible to bring a plane and take part at some point during the day.

Welcome, Alan from across the Pond.
Lots of players in the UK wing, so I'm sure you'll find opponents to test your mettle.
As for Salute, check out this link:

Good afternoon Wingman, and welcome to the Drome on behalf of the British Squadrons.
We will indeed be at Salute and putting on a game.
For info on that look at the other recent threads in this sub forum.
I'm sure that as soon as the chaps return from patrol someone from your neck of the woods will be in touch.

Hi Alan, you are very welcome. Ive build a few of the Valom kits and would like to know how you found the Shapeway kits to construct

    Hi Needles.

Shapeways models are not kits as such, they are made using 3D printing. They come in one piece, so all you need to do is cut off the propeller from where ever they have put it and glue it into the engine. Some planes come with pilots, observers and short post for WOG other do not. You can buy packs of these to glue into and on to the plane.

When you are ready to paint the plane you will need to give it 4 or 5 coats of primer before you start on the top coat. You will also need some decals (I use Dom's decals for this).

I hope that this has been of some help.

Are you going to Salute, if so I could bring you one to show you?

    Alan
