Default Hello all - old new guy here

Just dusted off my Wings of War sets and picked up a few miniatures. The games have been sitting in the hangar for lack of opponents for many years. My adult son expressed an interest and we are going to get in the air. I am looking forward to exploring the site and re-exploring the game. I'm a WWI devotee and not too far off from being old enough to have been there doing that. Actually I was born the year after Pearl Harbor...but sometimes I feel like I'm a hundred.

Query - why is there no Virginia prefix for posts?
Edit - Never mind - I see the state showed up when I posted.

Hi Ronald - welcome to the 'drome from here in the UK. At least you feel like you're a hundred - my girls tell me I am much older than I feel (like a million years older )

Welcome to the Aerodrome, Ronald, from Loudoun County. There are a fair number of players in the Mid-Atlantic region here -- a mix of WWII (like myself) and WWI.

(welcoming head bobs) from the lizard. I'm up in the Northern 'burbs of DC,; is around DC basically the area you're looking at, or are you talking about further south in Virginia?

I am in the Tidewater area - Newport News, VA, just a stone's throw from Newport News-Williamsburg Airport (KPHF, old Patrick Henry Field) and not too far from Langley AFB. Best thing about KPHF is that it is the home of two ex-Israeli Kfirs flown by Flight International to provide adversary service for the Air Force and Navy. No sound suppressors on those babies!

G'day Ronald & welcome to the 'drome on behalf of the Pilots who fly in NSW down in Australia.

Mate I think you are far from the oldest to join up here. I know I am older than you are.

I am sure you will find heaps of great info to enjoy & if you still want more games perhaps you might like to join in some of our Solo Campaigns & games.
Check out the Over the Trenches Campaign AAR's down in the WW1 section.

Welcome, Ronald, from Vancouver Island, Canada.

Despite the Conventions I attend (usually hosting all the games), I have only one interested player anywhere physically near me.

However, you can find opponents as close as your computer. I have played games with people around the world on Skype. You can even play teams, with people in different locations.

    Enjoy the Forum. Have fun!

Hi Ronald, welcome to the friendliest forum on the internet. You have to search long and hard to find something better than gaming with your son, or as in my case daughter and wife. Enjoy.

Welcome to the Aerodrome Ronald from the other side of The Pond. Great to hear that you are rediscovering the game ... Relax and enjoy.

Virginia ... VA not too far away from where I spent some of my time flight training in SC and NC before finishing off at Tyler Field TX. Never got the chance to cross the state line and visit properly although I did once fly into Roanoake from Wilmington NC
