Default Game Day at The Cask Room in Ada, Ohio

    Hello Everyone,
Karl is going to be coming down this weekend and put on one of his Scenarios. It will be listed at the bottom of the page.
We will be having it at The Cask Room 127 S Main St Ada, Ohio. They are planning on having games every Sunday.
Hope to see you all there!

Wings of Glory WWI: BOMBING THE TRAINS!
    Slot: (2 hours)
    Complexity: Advanced
    Age: 12+
Experience: Some recommended, but not required.
    Number of players: 10

The US First Army is driving hard into the German units opposing them. Entente intelligence has discovered that the Germans are sending re-enforcements by rail. General Mitchell wants them stopped, so planes from the 1st Day Bombardment and 1st Pursuit Groups are sent to bomb the rail stations. Can they get through the German scouts, and stop the trains?

I would gladly lead that Jasta against the bomber
My bet: the bomber will not even reach the railroad
Will launch my computer on Monday morning to see the AAR!

I also look forward with relish to viewing the outcome Tom. I recall only too well what John Biggles did to my train the other week.

Just back from a fun time with the folks at The Cask Room in Ada - Karl had us flying SPADs (escorts) and DH4s against Fokker DVIIs and Siemens-Schuckert DIIIs. Lots of bullets flying, a couple of booms, some smoke, and tons of fun! Couple that with beer and pizza, and what's not to like.

Karl and Tom were taking pictures, so I'm sure they'll post up some AARs as they have time.
Thanks for the invitation, Tom - it was a blast. I look forward to the next time...

    All the best,
    Matt

Two of the three did, while the fighters were mixing it up in the middle of the board. As it was a trial game for Karl's scenario at Origins, we called it as they were turning around to fly back to base. Depending on how many German fighters went down in the melee, it would have been a near go getting the DH4s home...

I'm sure Karl and Tom will report in more detail soon. I don't want to steal Karl's thunder by providing too much info...

    All the best, Andrzej!

It's a nice location for gaming, Phillip - if you can make the drive to Dayton to play occasionally, the trip to Ada can't be much worse - it might even be a little closer for you. Once your car is fixed, that is! It looks like this is going to be a regular thing for CappyTom and the crew. I'm sure I'll be back up from time to time with some of the guys from here.

All the best, and good luck with the vehicle!

Sorry for the delay; busy week on staycation (read HOUSEWORK).

I ended up running things a bit differently than intended. I ran the bombers myself, if formation, and we played without altitude.
We had 3 bombers (DH-4s) 4 SPAD XIIIs against 7 Germans; a mix of Fokker D.VIIs, S-S D.IIIs and a lone Albatross D.II (cause that's what Rachel wanted to fly).
Also I forgot until a few turns in to take pictures

Here we are a few turns in; the first DH-4 goes down:

However, due to time, we opted to end the game.

I love Tom's mat under the planes, Karl - it really makes them pop out! Those German planes make it look like it won't be an easy hike back for the DH4s - at least all of the SPADs remained to try and help out...

It really was a lot of fun flying with you all - I look forward to doing it again, and I look forward to this refined scenario at Origins.

    All the best,
    Matt

    Another nice little scenario Karl.
The running of the gauntlet seems to have gone remarkably well.
Like Matt I love the atmospheric feeling to your gaming surface. It seems as if those aircraft are really scudding in and out of the clouds.
    Keep 'em coming.
