You had to be Tough & Lucky to survive that ordeal.
My Godparents son died on the Burma Railway.
There is an excellent DVD called "Hellfire Pass" about a group of survivors who revisited some years back.
One was the Australian Medical Officer "Weary" Dunlop.
Lest we forget.
My dad served in Burma during the war, he was horrified by what was done to these men - we remember them.

Dad came back from Oz on a Troopship along with some of the survivors from the Burma Railway.
It was the only wartime experience that he was not inclined to speak about.
