Thread: Kickstarter final amount

  1. #1

    Default Kickstarter final amount

Just for a bit of fun, any thoughts on what the final amount will be?

My guess is just over the $200,000 mark.

Just about enough to get the toolkit App unlocked, say about $81,000

I'd be surprised if it's that low Rob - the funding will certainly be more first-day heavy than most, but I'd be inclined to guess at 130-140k or so.

Well let's hope you are nearer the mark Dom. You have more experience in these things than me.

My gut says around 100-125k extreme top-end--the curve is flattening.

    This Kickstarter:

    SGN KS:

Too early to tell, but if the trend of "SGN curve at half-scale" continues $137K is the extreme best-case scenario, I'd say.

So let's start a little brainstorming for additional Stretch Goals... First requirement, no new hardware engineering. Second requirement, little to no direct competition with Retail Channel (no "free fighter w/each Giant").

    Already commented on by Ares:
--Monthly scenario cards: Ares acknowledged, possibly as an FB/etc "Likes" reward
--Windows-version toolkit ("Will look into if interest warrants")

Already suggested on KS Comments, no Ares comment:
    --Peg packs included
    --Special Damage packs included

$3800 to go on Scenarios, BTW.

I think it depends a bit on how it's marketed from here. This isn't pitched to bring new people in. The visibility, the stretch goals are not geared to exciting people outside the game. I do think the Rookie package is great value but this isn't a Kickstarter that's really for people just starting.

So, I think the lower estimates are probably right.

To be quite blunt, if this Clawback/Dropout trend continues I'll be surprised if we make even 85K.

I'll go with $93K, even though Kicktraq is still saying $244,336. Mark Twain once said that there were "lies, damned lies, and statistics", and I think this is a solid example of his assessment. By ignoring the fact that the really interested folks probably got their bids in early and went pretty much to their max, it's easy to extrapolate a much higher total and skew the outcome. That having been said, I hope I'm wrong and we see 10-15 more stretch rewards :-)

I would place my bets between $65,000 and $75,000 as Bob mentioned those that are really into the game got the bids in early. If we want to see another surge ARES will need to do something to draw more new players to the game. But for the last few days bids have ground to an almost halt.

The other thing is, Kicktraq trends are basically "If pledges continue at today's rate through all remaining days"--I'm oversimplifying the math, but the trendline isn't as reliable as the projection cone that'll be available in another day or two.

these next two rewards are not enough "fluff" to make people join. they are ok... but not great. We need to set a reward that people like and/or want to spend a little extra on. I was on all 3 Zombicide KS and they were awesome. Every few stretch goals involved getting something extra and paying for it.... like another plane, or an exclusive mini. I know they said that these things would not be exclusive, but being able to add something "new" to your pledge, like say, being able to add series 8 to your pledge might get the money flowing. I know for me, I don't have series 8, but would love to get it.

Maybe exclusive non game changing stuff? Stuff that doesn't matter if you have it or not, but the completists want them

Here again, John, we get back to the Non-Compete Trap... how many LGS's do you see Zombicide in at retail? The other thing is, Ares is quite adamant about wanting to ship everything pledged at one time so they don't have the long, dragging PR nightmare of delays like with Sails Wave 2 and the Victory and Constitution special packs. (I would chalk this latter up as "learning from past mistakes.")

Pegs seem to be fairly regularly suggested on their Comment page, maybe if they offer them as an add-on and then say "at $x we'll add a Peg Pack for each two planes in your pledge".

Yeah Im with John on this, basically its gone a bit stale and I do not see it making the next stretch goal unless Ares shake the box a little.

    I'm with the UK WingCo here 80.000 - 85.000 $.

95.000 $ strech goal could be:

    DEVELEOPMENT/PLANING/STARTING a Felixstowe F.2 / Caproni Ca.4 KICKSTARTER for 2016.

I'd be surprised if the already backers did not choose to increase their pledges with another 10$ just for extra mats/posters (I added them). If they went for it, there should be a significant growth of the amount...

I am considering buying an extra set of mats.

I'd suspect part of what's gotten it this far is the number of us who've already done exactly that. Debating about adding a RAP as a filler... but do I really need a second one?

I'm glad for the matts, but another set of paper isn't really needed at this end.
I'm budgeting to get 2 from Luis (Iberian Shadow)

Likewise, I'll buy them on neoprene, but I'm not getting extra paper.

There will be another add-on here soon that should see some of you spending a few more dollars. And then two stretch goals to tie in with it.

I added in the Rookie pledge. Four repaints or gifts and the rules are free! I think a 2nd rulebook in the long run is a good idea. I have worn out other rule books in the past so a backup is a must for me.

    And Oberst teases us again....

$450 more or so and I'll be able to push us to another Stretch Goal...

Is there any chance that the neoprene maps will be included in the Kickstarter?

  25. #25

No, paper for kick starter and with the idea of releasing them as Neoprene in the future.

    ~$325 to Push...

I got the extra paper maps for $10, just so I can run no man's land across a four mat setup.

Naughty, for buying a $10 to help the Kickstart?

You should have heard the interrogation I underwent when was told about my EBVeteran pledge.
    - ...and you just supported those guys with 100 bucks, right? [I saved her from hearing the additional costs ]
    - Yes, I did.
    - Just like that? ?
    - Well, this is a very ambitious project of theirs...I feel I should support their efforts.
    - and then you'll have to pay for the planes, right?!
    - NO! The planes are included!
    - I see...Good boy then!

No, the shipping on the mats kills them as a possible KS item. It was one of the huge issues Ares had during the SGN KS.

My word QB, it don't take much to get you to part with money then does it.

Mrs. K. was very understanding too when she realized how much money I was saving on the deal.

Seriously, the Collector package is like getting one Staaken free when you buy the other three planes. Even at e-tail, where else are you going to see a deal that good?

It's only a saving if you'd have bought them anyway.

    ...

What am I saying? Oh course we'd have bought them anyway.
