Are there enough Fokker D VIIs to handle the bugs?
What, you didn't give those poor bugs an escort!

Mission One, Fokker Dr.Is versus Nieuport 17s. Brought to you by Coca-Cola.
I thought I was doing well, and then the expected happened.
But our side held the skies in a rather one-sided victory.
Next up, the Bug Hunt!
The ten Fokkers closed on the Bugs, with no fewer than four lining up to take a shot.
The number two Bug is destroyed, exploding into flames that set one of the Fokkkers ablaze. (It has been awhile, but I seem to recall we were using a rule that said the destruction of a Bug resulted in a C card for each plane within a half a ruler.)
The black and white striped D.VII takes aim on the Bug at 10 o'clock, well aware of the fact that he is putting one of his comrades in great jeopardy. The Bug explodes! And in a surprising chain reaction, so does his comrade's plane!
A third Bug is destroyed, but so is another Fokker, as the final wave of Bugs make their appearance.
Two pilots make a risky move. Flying between the aerial bombs is a dangerous proposition.
The lead Bug has moved beyond the halfway point, but replacement Fokkers have also appeared on the scene.
Do you have any close-ups of the Bugs and their bases? The bases looking interesting.
Some of the German pilots find themselves overshooting the slow moving drones, while others are able to move in behind their prey.
Bug 7 is shot down by the combined fire of two Fokkers, but the explosion sets one of them on fire. Bug 8 is a little more lucky. He is shot down, but his explosion takes down another Fokker.
Two Bugs are now quite close to reaching their objective - escaping the map board.
The Fokkers seem to be getting the hang of this. Bug 9 has been destroyed.
Four remain, but only one needs to escape for a Bug victory.
As Bug number one is about to escape, a desperate German defender is able to put in a final shot, bringing it down.
Only two Bugs remain.
And now, only one.
The final damage on Bug 4 as it escaped the board.
All things considered, this experiment went rather well. We had fun, and it got down to the wire. Those are the marks of a fun scenario.
It has been awhile, so I don't recall the specifics of the last battle that evening. Suffice to say it was D.VIIs versus Snipes, and someone had the dubious distinction of drawing the dreaded double pilot wounded kill.

And, I think I'm now only one AAR behind. Coming up... our third Bloody April at the Family Game Store.
Very impressive John.
I would never have backed those slow flying bugs to have got more tha half way across the mats, never mind having one escape.
Good game.

Super pictures there, John!
I love seeing a pack of brightly-coloured Fokkers doing their thing!
Oh, and the Bugs are cute, too!
I'm running my bug hunt this Saturday; IIRC (I need to find my scenario notes), I had the bugs explode with D damage (close range) if they took 6 points in a single phase.
My bugs will have an escort

The game went well; I'll post an AAR as soon as I can get the pics off my phone (I forgot the camera :slap
Thumbnail report: I had 2 SPADS escorting 12 bugs against 2 Fokker D.7s and a SS-D.III.
5 bugs escaped, and "shot down" 4 of the Germans (I was allowing re-spawning), three outright with explosions (might have to rethink the explosion threshold), and the 4th succumb to a explosion induced fire.
The SPADs got a couple shots in, but no kills.

Oh, John: your PM box is full.

Must agree with Karl I can't see any pics other than in the first post. What a tease, please could you restore them?
Neil

Hmm....I wasn't aware there was a way of linking your album pics to pics that you can see in a posted thread.

Bummer. Given the disappearance of photos from the other AAR, maybe this is a sign that my AAR writing days on this forum should come to an end.
I wouldn't say that; maybe you need a different hosting site?
