My sentiments exactly.
And there was me saying I would never support a Kickstarter Project again!
I'm sure I'll be able to follow your lead, James! I would especially like some of the 0/400s...
All the best,
Matt
This is brilliant! I can't wait!
I'm wondering what the stretch goals would be.... ARES how about a "no mans land" play mat strip???!!
I would think they'd be able to sell the bejeebies out of an NML playing mat, if that were a stretch goal...I could see myself buying at least two of 'em.
All the best,
Matt
Oh man oh man oh man
So excited for these granted they aren't ridiculously expensive and will come out soon enough. For those of us who picture better when numbers are given, what are the estimated dimensions for these bombers? The Ares pictures next to a Dr.1 aren't helping much.
Also excited about potential stretch goals... And in terms of how long it will take for production, if they already have the pre production models made for the promo... from memory the minis are often out that same year... does anyone recall the general time frame once they are done?
if a Fokker is 2 inches in wingspan... the Zep is about 16 inches in wingspan.....
According to the other thread John at 1/144 scale the measurements should be:
The Zeppelin Straaken: wingspan 291mm, length 152mm (approx 11.5" x 6")
Handley Page 0/400: wingspan 200mm, length 139mm (approx 8" x 5.5")
"He is wise who watches"
Oh my.
Two at once may be too much, but that's going to be very tempting indeed.
What kind of stretch goals do you guys think they will have?
The double mat long ways on is enough John.
If you can fly on from one end bomb the town at the other and get off again at your end with two or three night fighter Biffs attacking you you are doing well.
Remember too that the most Staakens to ever attack London was two backed up by Gothas.
The HPs over Germany are a different kettle of fish entirely, going in as a flight will crowd the table and i'd suggest four mats in the normal side by side configuration for those games.

if I ever get off my butt and finish my map.... it'll be plenty big enough. I'm so close I can feel it!
I wonder what the price will based on the Gotha and balloon prices we might be looking at £50+ for the RV1.
For those interested in the Handley Page O/400, I found this yet-to-be-released title on Amazon (UK): http://www.amazon.co.uk/Bloody-Paral.../dp/1781550808
Not available for pre-order, yet, but tentatively scheduled for 31 July.
From what they said, it will tax their resources. How do you suppose this will affect the schedule of the WGF 9 and WGS 6 & 7 releases mentioned on this home page?
The Giants are not going to really impact the current schedule at all. The whole reason behind doing these as a KS is so that it does not soak up their capital and delay/effect the other product lines. If the KS is successful, it will give them the cash needed to produce these up front, so they are not out any monies besides what they have already invested in the prototypes.
I can't say much from the Behind The Scenes discussion, but I am comfortable saying that lessons have been learned and steps taken, some of which I suggested , to help address and mitigate the problems encountered in past Kickstarters. I have confidence this one will go smoother than SGN did...
Herr Oberst, have trays for these monsters up your sleeve perchance?
That is good news. Excuse my ignorance, but what does it mean to be a "Kickstarter" and how is that different from the normal process?
this will explain exactly what Kickstarter is:
https://www.kickstarter.com/hello
I hope this project meets its funding, the reason why is because if this is successful it could mean a new avenue for ARES to release miniatures through, especially more unique or specialist aircraft. I wouldn't be surprised that if this is successful we'll see the Balloon Busters released in the same manner.
Actually, the combo of diplomacy and strategic timing went a long way. A little Star Trek Wisdom in memory of Mr. Nimoy helped too... but that story's for after the planes are delivered.
Do we know what the min/max outlay will be and what we would get for min/max payment yet?
See you on the Dark Side......
Not until they release the whole Kickstarter information later this month Neil.

James, Ares has had reservations about overuse of Kickstarter in the past with good reason--every time you get a direct-to-consumer sale, that's one less sale at Brick & Mortar or e-tail, which means less profits for them and less sale at the Distros, which in turn means less profits for them too. So they tend to react to manufacturers opening direct-sale channels, even limited ones like KS's, as if somebody was physically stealing from them and black-ball crowdfunded producers...

There's more here too, but that too shall have to wait for a more appropriate time...
Guys I think you're all forgetting something IT HAS TO REACH ITS FUNDING GOAL FIRST and the only way for it to do that is if everyman and woman does their duty!
That would be really cool Mike. I would of course return them to you.
If anyone has a model or SW print of one of these handy, can you tell me how deep a tray would need to be for it? Will a 2" or 2.5" be deep enough, or would we have to go all the way to a 3" tray?
OK, finally found the 2 planes....man I have way too much gaming stuff buried down there
looks like a 2" tray would work, in the foreground is the Zeppelin and in the background is the Handley-Page, the tray to the left is a 2.5" tray
I'll get them in the USPS this weekend for ya

Thanks. The tail needs to be on the ground to get the height that I need... but since you are sending them to me, I'll be able to test them in a 2" tray Thanks again.
What time? I've been refreshing kickstarter all day... its 9pm on the 10th here in Oz.
