    Great AAR Tom.

Like posted in your Album: The US boys send 7 B-17s and a Pizza into the battle.

The formation is hughe enough to send the Ki-61-I-KAId AD/BDD (Chuichi Ichikawa) in.

As the gentleman you are, you gave it to the girl (and let Phillip do the hard work with the Zeros )

Great game event, Thomas! Thanks for the pics. I can see the "Bomber Player" had an easy time pushing the 6 bases together Just one maneuver card and it goes smoothly.

I think we can all learn a lot from that mission.
That's obviously the way to handle a bunch of bombers with only a handful of players.
Those German Dams had better get their defences beefed up a lot.

Thank you for that AAR, Thomas. The bomber box looks truly formidable and intimidating and yet, as you showed, it is vulnerable.

Carter and I had a great time playing thru the scenario. In formation the b17s are tough. Makes you appreciate what those fighter pilots were up against.

That's what I did. Gave everyone the guns Ki-61-I-KAId AD/BDD had. Evening the playing field. The 1st bomber caught a Boom card. The rest went down on points.

They look tough but when you get swarmed it starts hitting crew and the damage starts racking up.

Yeah plus I had to keep track of the scoring for points and those getting shot down. Fun game all the way around.

Started out with 7 Bombers and ended with 5. This would have been worse had time not run out. The scenario lasted 1 hour 45 minutes. The total mission was for the bombers to fly off the mat, at slow speed, then turn around and come back on the mat with all the players / Pilots in new undamaged planes. Coming back after they dropped their bombs. They would be going at high speed on the return trip. This was a timed trial. And I think it went well and everyone had fun.

    Tom,

How do run the bombers? In the game Rich ran we used two different movements types. If you use the base like the fighters the bombers move very fast. By this I mean if you go from the front to the arrow they move fast. If you go from the front mark to the speed mark they are slow. What do you think and hope you understand what I mean.

A very impressive set up. I love the bomber formation. I recommend you start the bombers closer to the objective. Bob ii correct how did you move the bombers? With those oversize bases they will out run the fighters. Using the edge of card to printed line, even at slow they are to fast. Did you use the slow speed and full bomb load idea?

id say it was more luck and sacrificing planes to inflict damage. straying too close to the formation really adds up the damage quickly. i went from undamaged to dead in just 2 maneuver cards.

I moved them from the front to the blue dot as the arrow. This slowed them down. In this scenario I used the bombers as a target to last 2 hours.

I did use the slow speed for the trip there and would have used high speed for the trip back. I moved them using the blue dot as the arrow in the back of the bomber stand. This slowed the bombers down so as not to out run the fighters.

Quite a battle! That's very good, definitely imposing to see all those bombers together, i'd be leery to take it on.

Yes, I just got a B-17 last night and was looking at all the firing arcs. Taking on one seems to be difficult, I can't imagine 7. Looking forward to playing mine on the table.

Stay at long range from them. Take out the most exposed first. Do not make a head on pass. These are things we learned last year. Here is a link from a game we played last year.
