    Default Cancon 2015 - Day 2

First off... a 7 player furball, most players under 10.

There was also a dogfight on the table of course.

Actually, there was universal good sportsmanship, rather more than was evidenced in some other games being played.

    Late 1918 - 2 Fokker D.VIIs, a Dr.I and a Hansa-Bradenberg W.29 seaplane vs a Snipe, and SE5a and a Spad XIII.

"Have you finished putting your cards down yet?"

    "Just about..."

    "Another A class damage card..."

    "The Seaplane attacks!"

    "Some fatherly advice..."

"In a Furball, swift maneuvering is needed to avoid collisions...."

Due to an amazing number of 0's for damage - the Spad took 13 cards with little effect before another 2 B shots downed it - the game lasted for half the day.

    Next game was a 2 vs 2 - Snipe and Brisfit vs D.VII and a Roland CL.II

Well it was, until the Snipe got hit by a BOOM card on the first shot. Then it was 2 to 1.

A hit on the Brisfit's observer, then smoke added to the Brisfit's woes, but it still gave a good account of itself before the inevitable end.

The final game - a one on one, Spad XIII vs Albatros D.V. Both pilots used "Boom and Zoom", but the Albatros' pilot had better timing. Both pilots decided to quit the field simultaneously, the Spad looking the worse for wear in terms of points (6 left), but the Albatros had had an engine hit, so was just trying to get back home in one piece.

With that, in a state of exhaustion, the umpires called it quits after 9 hours of continuous play.

Great photos and report. It's exceptionally nice to see young ones playing the game. Thanks!

Is the Hansa-Bradenberg W.29 seaplane an effective unit in combat? It is well armed and the rear gunner has the extra wide 'Roland C.II' arc of fire.

What a great mix of planes, Zoe! Looks like a lot of fun was had by all, even if it was wearing on the umpires...

Love the pictures, too - and the shadows of the planes on the 'ground' look pretty cool, as well.

    Well done!
    All the best,

Nine hours certainly is a marathon to get through, especially on day two Zoe.
Well done to all of you, and thanks for another batch of fine photos.

    Thumbs up

Great to see so many young players Zoe.

Methinks we should get some new recruits from that lot.

Lot of kids involved - I like it. New pilots coming
