Thread: A Day with the Walrusz

  1. #1

Default A Day with the Walrusz

During my recovery I was visited by a wandering Walrus thread. The guys have done them very nicely in card stock, but I was inclined to put my spin in. So it began by sizing the paper model to 1/200" scale. Then made 4 copies on my infamous label sticker stock and a few bits of styrene and wood. The idea is to wrap the wood and styrene with the stickers and got the elves to work.

    So begins a day's work, I mean a, a day's rest . . . proof of concept:

Lurking on the front deck of the Glorious

I like it! Now for the rest! Edges of wooden fuselages are colored with markers

Fuselage bits cut from stickers and wrapped to the bass wood cores

The remaining stickers will be cut and stacked in piles for speeding up the production

Three sets of stab stickers folded and stuck to .02 styrene sheet

Bits cut, folded, stuck and assembled en mass, top wings covered and dihedraled in the background

End results, not bad for an afternoon!

    Off on patrol

Wow! Simply amazing, David - I envy your ability to get so much done in a short time - it's truly inspirational.

And I've always loved the Walrus - it was one of the first Airfix 1/72 scale kits I built as a kid - a nifty old plane...thanks for the stroll down Memory Lane

I hope you continue to feel better!
    All the best,
    Matt

I am not a big fan of the WW2 version, although I do play, but even I can go "wow" when you get to grips with a plane

    So
