Default How to Request New Bases...?

    All,

I am pretty new, and on a poor machine, currently, and so have honestly not taken a lot of time to lookm through allm of the numerous posts here. However, as an avid modeller and scratch builder, I can hardly wait for my first reply to this crucial question:

Where, or perhaps more precisely, how does one request new official base stands to be produced and/or sold in the market?

I visited the market recently and was so pleased to find my "gimbal" answers, as well as the addition of some great aircraft bases for this game. For instance, I was surprised, but pleased to find a Bomber base for the SM.82, but then wanted my SM.79 to have bases as well. I love that the Fiat BR.20 is offered, good for SCW, Italian WWII, as well as Japanese and Germans. This made me very happy as I am currently finishing 3 of these.

Anyway, if anyone can help me onto the correct thread, it would be much appreciated and worth at least one Rep point from me, if not 5...hehe

    Thanks in advance,

    FF

    G'day Scott.
Unfortunately Ares do not supply separate bases for their models.
Keith (Oberst Hajj) who runs Aerodrome Accessories has produced some bases for unofficial models & some Generic bases for use with WW1 Scouts & 2 seaters.
Any special bases would only come about is there was a big demand for a particular model.

Litko also make a range of bases for fighters & 2 seaters which are suitable for most WW1 & WW2 aircraft & if you glue an Ares peg to the Litko base you can then use the Ares pegs. I really hate the thin Litko one piece pegs.

Do check out the range available from the Aerodrome Accessories store.

    G_R,

Okay, perhaps I was not clear enough in my post, that I had visited the Aerodrome Accessories store's list and found it to be cool, but wanting...hehe

Yes the litko bases are known to me and I sell my planes on ebay with them, as well as pegs tipped with an EarthFirst magnet, etc. Also, I typically glue a WoG official peg to the Litko bases and this works fine, except for storage ease...lol

Okay, so it sounds like I need to create a fervor for new bases with my new offerings...No Problem, many "New" Aircraft and Pics coming soon.

Thank you for your input, I'll get what I need one way or another...

    G'day M8!

The fervour for official bases (and card decks) already exists Scott and Ares is aware of it but have no plans to produce them. I think we were very lucky to get the altitude pegs !
Your best bet would be to liaise with Keith at the Aerodrome Store.

I use 144scale planes for my WW2 gaming, i was using the Litko base system since the original DOW game came out. Both the Aerodrome store and Litko system will get you in the air. Here are some photos from a game two years ago and of my Shapeways Gladiators.

One of these days, I will have to get off my butt and do WWII templates of these:

How I made them: How to Customize Aftermarket Airplane Stands

I mean, really. Now that I'm doing WWS and WGS cards, I can't say I don't have the graphics I need, anymore...

PS: These aren't completely clear, and Eric [freebird-52] found a clear label he liked better: Avery Glossy Clear Rectangular Labels 22822 (Customize Aftermarket Airplane Stands - Post 17).

I have a vision problem. I can`t see anything on a base two feet away. I also have 400+ 144 scale planes and 40 Litko bases. Has anyone found a window cling material that could be printed. You could switch the things around as needed!

As far as SM 79s go Scott. If you contact Keith about production, I would be up for some of them.

I thought they already offered a SM-79, but it is an SM-82 bomber.

    Rich,
On the Aerodrome and Litko bases, these labels peal off with very little problem. However, they may not go back on too many times. There is a latex or plastic material for sticking things on windows, that is not supposed to leave any residue. Christmas decorations, and bird silhouettes, etc... But, I don't know if you could print anything on it and have it stay. They are usually one color or melted/molded as a sheet of material. There may be printable labels out there.

Something like this, if we can find clear ones: Avery White-Removable-Labels-1inx2_5-8in-Print_to_the_Edge_06471.htm

AA bases are the best choice IMHO. They are all purpose and very good quality.

I find myself in need of bases for Hampdens and a Hudson, I just sent Keith a PM asking if its possible.
If I get them, great, if I don't, that's life.
But if you don't ask, you will never know.

If Keith can do them, so much the better for us all, but as has been said, there are other alternatives.

They must be a goer John, because there is a lot of interest including myself in those aircraft.
Just give him a chance to get the Lancasters done first.
