    Default Reporting for duty

Hi everybody. I don't have much to say except that I'm looking for some well-made mats, and would like to know if there's a place I can purchase these (I already have some ares maps, I'm looking for custom, etc.) See you all in the air!

    Hi Aaron, welcome from CT!

I own a couple Hotzmats (http://www.hotzmats.com/). They're felt, reasonably robust, and come in a number of varieties. I've had good experiences with them, although I know some have chafed at delivery and/or communication delays.

Here's an example of a "European Fields" Hotz Mat:

    And a slightly "warmer" exposure:

There are certainly others, but I had this close at hand.

Greetings Aaron. From the land of the Big Chill, at least for now.

As for mats I've seen these in person and they're very nice. Can't attest to how well they do ordering, payment, shipping or customer service though as I've never used them. Cheers.

Welcome from Cape Cod. In the files section there are aerial shots that you can have printed for a mat. Quite a few to pick from.

    Aaron,
    Welcome to the 'drone.

I have the Ares mats, and they are a bit dark. I play mostly solo or Skype games, so I want lots of contrast between cards and playing surface when photographing and webcamming the games.

I use a green flannel sheet for my Skype games, and just (2 hours ago) purchased my latest "mat" at FabricLand. I needed a sea mat for my HMS Glorious (aircraft carrier) scenario for both Skype and GottaCon occasions. As the scale model of the Glorious will be 47" long, I needed a 60x60" mat (first attempt with a 2d graphic and official mats here: HMS Glorious in 1/200 scale - AAR). I found a suitable mottled blue fabric in the bargain bin, for $5.80. It will be play tested on Saturday at my next Skype game with Neil [Skafloc], Paul [tikkifriend], and others.

Welcome Aaron from Stevens Point! Where in WI are you (I need some more gamers near me in central WI ) If you purchase from hotzmats, do some research on his reviews first. I ordered from him and I wont again. The mat is fine, but nothing exceptional, but the headache of dealing with him isn't worth it in my opinion. I am NOT saying don't order from him, but you better be patient and not need the mats for months (years or never for some people if you believe their reviews). As you can seen in previous posts, others have had no difficulties with him.
