A Spitfire and the Victoria Cross is all you need to get through the bottle of Britain.

That's not a Victoria Cross I'd want to receive.

Actually, very clever, even if the implications are nasty.

The 'nasty implications' are what the after-curfew husband will receive when he finally arrives home

    Per,
No offense taken. And you are not responsible for the ad. It was a good post, and I got a good laugh out of it.

    Karl,
Thanks for explaining my comment. Exactly what is intended by the ad, and what I was referring to.

Maybe a Bottle of Britain would make Victoria less cross, or pehaps its taste doesn't 'beckham' to her...

Is Spitfire available here in the States anywhere? Perhaps a little Eagle Squadron magic is in order?

    All the best,
    Matt

When you get the underlying meaning it is quite funny
I missed the double meaning of cross. but a pint (or three) of spitfire would make things right again

The Spitfire ads were full of double meanings, some a bit near the knuckle but very funny:

The later ad campaign with Alexander Armstorng and Ben Miller was also funny, as they took the p*** out of the way today's youth speak:

So, all this great amusing banter, started by Per [LOOP], to thank Dave [AlgyLacy] for his generosity.

Thanks, Dave! For your generosity, and for generating all this humor.

    Merry Christmas, everyone.

Despite all the hype, it is actually quite palatable for a beer.
