All I can say is, WOW!
From Wikipedia:
...she only carried nine Sea Gladiators of 802 and six Swordfish from 823 Squadrons for self-defence as it was hoped to evacuate the RAF fighters if at all possible. Ten Gladiators of 263 Squadron were flown aboard during the afternoon of 7 June and the Hurricanes of 46 Squadron were also flown aboard without any significant problems in the early evening despite having a much higher landing speed than the biplanes.
So, I have four Hurricanes.
Unless you are going to paint any of the above planes to match squadrons, I can use what I have, with perhaps two extra (God forbid I run a scenario where the British player actually launches any back-up planes before the flight deck gets destroyed). Gladiators or Sea Gladiators for a total of six? And four Swordfish, if I want to run a torpedo attack for a fictional carrier scenario somewhere in WWII? For the May-June 1940 period in Norway, a Stuka was shot down by Sea Gladiators, and an He-111 was damaged and driven off by CAP Sea Gladiators, when the Luftwaffe attempted some sorties against the Glorious.
I have been able to run a scenario or two with only Hurries and Bf-109s, so I can get by with that. The other planes would be gravy.

Awesome pair.
See you on the Dark Side......
Makes me almost want to get one of those beauties, but not enough to have to explain it away to Mrs K.

So why does a British carrier have the French flag on its deck?
>;)
This is such an awesome project! It's a shame I can't afford to jump into this era too...
But I absolutely love looking at what you all are doing.
Always the best,
Matt
The day will come, they will be people you know, respect, haved gamed with. The talk will turn to cookies, the promise of amazing cookies. You try one, then another and then it is too late, The DARK SLIDE! So many a poor lad and lass have slipped down the slippery slope. A few WWII minis of your favorite planes will show up at the game store, and soon like the cookies there they are, you are surrounded, facing a war on 2 time fronts, and unless your TARDIS is at the ready, you will succumb as we all have . . . as Zoe has warned us all, down that path is madness! But it is fun!
Unbelievable what you guys can do. That's amazing. The ships look incredible and AAR report for playtesting shows that it will be heck of a Con!!!!
"A little madness is divinest sense" comes to mind, fellows...I'm sure I'll succumb to the WW2 planes eventually. And until I jump in with both feet, I can wet them vicariously through your wonderful work! Keep those pictures and inspiration coming...
Always the best,
Matt
Final bits have come together, most challenging were the side crash barriers, the need to be movable and flexible.
Lengths of wire glued into bamboo dowels which are hinged to the flight deck edge with cotterpins, the netting was found in the laundry room, no one will miss that bag . . .
Smoke arises from the boilers,
Bridge extension over the flight deck . . .
Break down procedure: main hull is two sections pins align and magnets hold them together, reduces length to under 24"
Crash barriers hinge flat
Control tower plugs into flight deck with pins, antenna unplugs from tower, the overhead walkway slips out and the smoke is un-pinned
Ready to box up!
Hull bits face down in padded box
Yes it does hold minis!
All boxed up and off to B.C. Its been fun, wait what? There is still the other one? Yikes! Time for a glorious rest, or battle or both!
This is truly amazing, Dave! I'm speechless.
And I can't give you more REP... for a while.
OMG! This is soo awesome!
The AAR is gonna be smokin'!
Thank you so much, Dave.

That's... ridiculous. Or, perhaps, simply brilliant... Maybe, filthy...?
Hmm... I'm going to need more superlatives for this one.
What more can be said. David you are truly the master of scratch building
Crash barriers!! Who puts crash barriers on a working games model??
Another masterful piece of work David.

Dave.
Your ingenuity never fails to surprise me.
The use of those cotter pins is sublime. For tears I have been trying to get small hinges for models.
That has answered the problem for any size at all in one go.
Also the breaking down of parts, although not a new concept, is enhanced by the incorporation of those rare earth magnets.
Well done once again.
Rob.

Strabiliante, simply amazing.
This is so ... Clipperish once again. Not easy to find unused adjectives.
Mau
I love Mau's coining of the word "Clipperish" - seems a unique way to embody all those superlatives...
Outstanding work! What an inspiration for us all.
Thanks so much for sharing it.

Yay!
Am email notice from Canada Post popped into my wireless device while I was at the college, this morning.
SWMBO was already at work when my favorite Postie dropped it off. I jumped in the car for home, as neither of us were planning on being home until after 4:00 PM. Wwaaayyy too long to leave an untended parcel at the front door. And when I got there, this is what I saw:
I brought it into the garage, and opened it up to check the contents, but this is as far as I got:
That was it, unfortunately, as I had a tutoring engagement in the afternoon, and it took ALL afternoon. This evening, I spent going over the remains of the assignment to prove that I could do it (not successfully), so back to the college in the morning to see the prof. No playing with my new toys until Thursday, as I have a full schedule of commitments and classes until late in the evening.
Maybe a Skype game or even a face-to-face game on Saturday?
Thanks soo much, Dave!

Great bit of kit Mike, but real bad luck on not being able to get at it properly until tomorrow.
Its as bad as having to wait for Christmas all over again.

That is ridiculously cool.
It's even better than the picture on the box Mike.
You lucky chap.

This is so cool, Mike - I can't wait for more pictures and reactions from the convention. What a wonderful centerpiece for the game.

This is completely ridiculous. Outrageously so. Every time I see or hear reference to HMS Furious (post Clipper-refit), I'm stunned all over again.
Absolutely brilliant.
Very true Chris we all bow to the Master every time on of his Carriers makes an appearance.

Like you and Chris, Rob - every time I see the Glorious or the Furious, I'm transported to the world of 'if only'...what absolutely magical stuff!!!
In addition to one of Clipper's Zeppelins, my goal is to one day have some sort of 1/144 ship to attack...
Thanks for posting the clips of battles with the Glorious, Mike - it truly is wonderful to see her in action
All the best,
Matt
