Maybe they'll get here in the States sooner than the Ju.88s

Saw these in Monk Bar Models (York) yesterday for £2.99. Shame it wasn't Blenheims...
Love them!
Waiting for Blenheims also!
And the research begins for cards...

Hmmm.... Not many plan-view drawings.

Thanks, Steve. That's the spirit!
This plane is so amazing! I love it! I'll see if I can find it here.
Thanks

I have just finished a pair of the new Zvezda Tupolev SB-2 bombers.
The models were easy to assemble and paint with minimal filling along the join between the wings and fuselage. I left the transparent canopy etc off until the models were painted and varnished. The fit of the parts was very good and the transparent parts simply slotted into place and were secured with a dab of solvent adhesive applied with a fine brush.
The decals are fairly plain but appear to be the right size (unlike those on the Ju88) and look the part, although I did have to paint over the centre of the red stars to brighten the colour a bit.
I picked these two up for £5.00 (for the pair) at a wargame show in the UK - although they are simple models they are ideal for gaming and you simply cannot really go wrong at that price. Even with the cost of the flight stands they worked out at less than £7.00 each.
The camouflage scheme is based on a picture I found on the web, of an aircraft flying in the Leningrad area late in 1941. I wasn't too bothered about getting an exact colour match as the Soviet military had a somewhat relaxed attitude to painting their hardware, which persisted throughout the war (and well into the 1990's). Essentially the Soviet military and industry had more important things to worry about than producing paint. I know from my own experience of studying the Soviet military for a living for ten years that vehicles and equipment were generally painted with whatever paint was available at the time. No doubt air force commanders issued directives for aircraft colour schemes, but the units would have simply made do with whatever paint could be sourced through an industry struggling to provide equipment and munitions under wartime conditions. The smartly painted vehicles and aircraft shown in the parades tended to belong to showpiece formations which were usually smarter in appearance than the run of the mill units
The bases are Litko bomber bases, with the fire arcs etched into the top and filled with black chinagraph wax.
Also a big thank you to Aerodrome member Carl_Brisgamer as well, for kindly (and very quickly) responding to a query and providing me with the links and information about the SB2 I needed to bring the aircraft to tabletop readiness.
:-)

Nice paint jobs, Max!
They look just fine Max.
I do hope that they keep on trotting out this line of WW2 aircraft.

Very nicely painted models, Max. Your camo description is accurate and I do like the painting. Well done. Such plane types are necessary for early EF period bombing scenarios.

Has anyone made a card for this aircraft ? as I have 3 for the Spanish Civil War and it would be good to get them on the table
I looked at doing these up, but plan drawings were not available at the time. I obviously missed a few posts, though. Nice images, Steve!
The next piece of the puzzle is the stats? Anyone have them?
And following the above, the units and crew info to complete the card. Max?

Stats still need to be checked out, and there was a ventral position in the back?
[Re-Edit] Amended with info from Karl's [Jager] post below, and broadened dorsal firing arc. I suspect that there must be new info coming in the Unofficial Stats Listing, as J(b) is new to me.
PS: BK - Bombardero Katiuska?

The card looks great I can not wait to get these on the table:medal
many thank's to all what a great community we have
regards Kev
I think once the Dark Side claims part of my soul, the Spanish Civil War would be a great period to collect some figures for - and that might make me pick up one or two of these little gems!
All the best,
Matt

I guess it depends on how detailed we want to get. WoG is very generous with the firing arcs.
I did just check my FW ACD (a authorized non-JD from the Uncle ted site), and it has the dorsal gun as the whole 180 rear (w/ the tail BS). Looking at the pics, I would go with that (sorry )
He has the ventral gun as the rear arc.

Mike, your planes are really getting better and better.
Great cards. Now I have to get the planes to match your cards instead of getting cards to match my planes!
Cards from Old Guy and a bevy of aircraft from yourself Zoe.
I must come back from trips more often.
it has given me plenty of eye candy to start off my day.
