    Smile Newbie from the South

    Hello everyone,

I'm Marek, living in Southampton and recently started playing this awesome game.
If the country flag is confusing it's because my family all hails from Poland. I'm very proud of it

I was told about this game a good few months ago but never picked it up, instead seeing some guys playing X-Wing and getting into that first. (Will I be in trouble for mentioning another game on here?)

Very casual at the moment, currently just playing the odd standard rules game with my father when he's about, who loves this kind of thing, both the game and the setting.
I'm sure we'll start adding further rules as we get more comfortable with it all.

I'd originally signed up to post a rules question, which I will do after this, but I'm always up for getting involved with gaming communities.

Looking forward to more conversation about Wings of Glory!

    Best,
    Marek

Great to have you with us Merek.
You could not have picked a better place to ask about the game.
Our World wide community has some very knowledgeable chaps and chapesses here.
You must get in touch with my great friend Andrzej who is the Polish Wing commander. he posts under the name of Nightbomber.
I'm sure a lot more of the chaps will be along soon to welcome you.
I'm just off on a spot of leave but will look in on a daily basis whilst I'm away.
Do have a good browse around the site, and don't miss out on the Files section which contains a lot of good information and downloadables.

    Rob.

    Hello Marek; welcome from Cheshire.

You're ok mentioning X Wing; it gets referenced on here from time to time.

And it's nice to think we have a Pole flying out of Britain; that's something that has a distinguished history.

I feel like I should be playing the WW2 version and referencing 303 Squadron somewhere...

Squadron Leader Adams: Well, at least the rockets won't happen.

Air Vice Marshal Davis: Of course they'll happen. But they won't start tomorrow, or this month or on D-Day, and that's important.

Squadron Leader Adams: Then what's it all add up to? All their sacrifice?

Air Vice Marshal Davis: A successful operation.

Squadron Leader Adams: But they're probably all dead. All 633 Squadron.

Air Vice Marshal Davis: You can't kill a squadron.
    Oh, no, that 633 Squadron.

DakaDakaDakaDaka! Welcome Marek from Poland It's great to have a countryman in Britain
As my friend and mentor Rob wrote, there is no better place for gaming and friendship like the Drome!
Feel free to drop me a line any time on any question.
Actually there are two of the Poles, me and Rafał AKA Thunderbolt, appearing most frequently from our Wing.
Have you visited the Mess already? Having a virtual beer and chat for a while about anything - great place to start a pilot's career.
Some pieces of advice: 1. running through forumers' albums will give you some examples of what is going on on tables. 2. please note there are some gaming events in the UK (Doncaster and others) and Czech Republic (Prague Con) in the coming year, where you may meet some of us.
    Andy.

I meant to tell you chaps before I went on leave, that the keys to the beer store are under the Aspidistra at the end of the bar. With Squadron Leader Skafloc having swanned off with his thespian friends, you willhave to fend for yourselves this weekend. Make sure that Merek gets a proper Bulldog welcome and put the tab on my slate.

I should've mentioned that I'm originally from Middlesex, Greenford, so I'm definitely aware of Northolt and the war memorial there
