With a hobby business like wargaming, most of the customers who already play games will be expecting to do some work to get on the table. If Ares don't create the product then the player will. I spent ages looking for an Eindecker and couldn't find anything for sale at a reasonable price, so I made a paper one. I also made my own card deck.
My main gaming with
WOW is with five other chaps. As a result I need extra damage decks - again I made my own - some blank cards, rubber stamps and I'm done.
The original game was card based, Nexus used to offer booster sets of new planes and cards, Ares don't. As a result of zero retail stocks of aircraft, manoeuvre decks or damage decks, I just made some. Lost sales all around cos I would gladly of paid for them.
Now I've made up a plane I'll be making more as it was actually quite fun and filled in a few hours of non gaming time.
I'd like to support Ares and
WoG but I can't, if I can't buy, can I?
From my experience of plastic and metal injection moulding, the big cost is in the tooling. Once it's made you'd think they would just keep popping out the aircraft.
OK, extra decks for damage and manoeuvre might be a slightly obscure requirement, but at least get the planes out in the shops reliably. Maybe even sell unpainted aircraft...
