Thread: Aircraft print source you might like

Default Aircraft print source you might like

While in a bookshop in Madrid I came across a book containing good quality aircraft prints with text in both Spanish and English. I've added a sample below - not the tidiest of scans as the book size is 32 x 34 cms, so doesn't fit handily on an A4 scanner.

So, the book contains colour profiles on 50 different aircraft from WW1 and WW2, with up to a couple of dozen schemes depending on the aircraft - the DH2 has 3 schemes, the Hanriot HD-1 has 23 schemes for example. The book itself is 81 Euros, which although worth every penny is a large chunk of change to part with. But the good part is that it can be bought in sections, which not only makes it cheaper but allows you to buy just the bits that you are interested in. You can find the details here, and I highly recommend this.

Sadly the book was too heavy to lug home from Europe (I already had to buy a bag to bring home book purchases, but I have it on order now), but I bought the first section. This contains prints and info on the DH2, Foker Eindekkers, Hanriot HD-1 & HD-2, and the SPAD A2.

I just took a look at the site you linked to, some really nice profiles as well as plane views of some of them. Wish I could find it here in the US.

Are the other books illustrated on that page extracts from the book at the top?

Go in with http://www.proxfree.com/ specifying a US IP address. Spain won't work, oddly enough.

    Looks impressive Steve.
I got through O.K. but have gone down Jan's route and asked the "Book Depository" to inform me when they restock.
I guess the more of us express an interest the more likely we are to get some action.

I, like those of you above who've already mentioned it, love the DH-2 with rockets! What a neat find. And one can't have too many reference materials, can one?! It's a good thing SWMBO thinks my little planes are pretty nifty...

    All the best,

For info, the steampunk DH2 is a 32 Sqdn machine piloted by Lt A Cunningham.

Interesting. The same second name of the WWII nigh fighter ace, John Cunningham.

Do I, perchance, detect the possibility of a sudden upsurge in the sales of DH2's?
