Thread: Scenario map -- help required

Default Scenario map -- help required

I'm (still) working to create a scenario for WGF that I'd like to be able to offer to forum members. I'm trying to get a good historical feel to it. My ideal map may be too large for general use, though, so I'd like to get a feel for what would be reasonable.

Ideally, I'd like to set the scenario on an area in the region of 39" x 72" (98cm x 183cm). Is this too large?!
I could fit things into 39" x 54" (98cm x 136cm) -- the size of 2 standard play mats -- but it would necessarily be missing some of the interest.

I'm not sure it would be suitable to be played on standard play mats anyway, as it will require several trench lines at fairly specific intervals. Would it be better to include a map that could be printed out on sheets of paper and fitted together? (I would use an aerial photograph with an overlay to show key lines and points.)

    I'm really interested hear feedback!

98*183 is a perfect size for my table. I usually play on 100*200cm table, but have another one 120*180cm as well.
Try to make a one map. It's then easier to print it on vinyl and have it in just one piece.

I printed a original WW1 trench map on venyl.
    Looks quite good.

I think you should go to the size you want Jon, most people can manage up to 6'x4' so what you propose is doable; all that is required is a simple map with the points of interest and relative distances shown. You could then offer a cut down version to the size of a two mat game for those that need it.
Personally I wouldn't want to be printing out multiple sheets to create a map but maybe some specific target cards might be useful ?
