Obrigado Nicolas!
The Triplane will be red...
... I'm not totally sure but I think I recall have read somewhere that the blue version was a mistake: I mean, that there wasn't a blue Raben's triplane; it was just a legend, like someone thought it was blue because of the black'nd white pics of that time, but it was actually red
Do anyone knows about that?
Great job, they are looking great
Man, you really strip those minis down...
I also really like Bruno Lozer's Albatros back there. How did you do those thin fuselage stripes, msking, or decals?
Yes, we discussed the veracity (is that the word?) of this scheme in other threads. But one thing cant be denied: its very cool!
Thanks
Nick
They look good so far, Ezekiel.
Great work, Ezekiel!
Just a little German lesson:
the raven (1x) = Der Rabe
the ravens (2x and more) = Die Raben
Voilŕ le soleil d'Austerlitz!
Wendelmuth's Albatros was also completelly disansembled before painting (only way to do the proper re-painting process)
Here is the 'cigarrish' fuselage. It took a lot of work. Firstly, I airbrushed the fuselage with matt-white. Then airbrushed red-strips by taping one by one -- I mean: tape the whole fuselage except for the spot where the first strip was going to be, then air-brush... repeat with each single red-strip. Wendelmuth's plane has a total of eight strips, four white, four red.
"#1" numeral is a home made decal
Tail was also masked and painted. Here is a three ways view with tail national markings already applyed
Really great work Exekiel!
I love the J18 Raben colours. I have his Dr.I plus a D.VII.
Have you got the Osprey J18 book?

The last one look marvelous Ezekiel! Great work!
Cannot wait to see the DH.4 hack machine finished! :-)
Greg VanWyngarden, in his Jasta 18 - The Red Noses supported by a few photos, states that the DH.4 uppersurfaces were painted in vermillion and white, even including the white radiator marking.
It is VanWyngarden belief that the wings lower surfaces, both upper and lower wings, were left in CDL.
Late war Balkenkreutz insigna were applied to the white rudder as well as on upper and lower wings surfaces.
There are no photographic evidences that the black raven was applied on the DH.4.
All of the above for History sake.

These all look incredibly good chaps, and now that I have my new white Gorings there is no excuse for me not finishing off my own Jasta Raban.

I have done some late 1918 Jasta 18 planes too - just haven't got around to putting photos into albums yet.
I really like all this work you're doing, Ezekiel! Your Raben are really turning out nicely. Great inspiration for us who may want to do similar things (whether it's with Jasta 18 or other units).
Thanks for posting all the pictures of work in progress.
All the best,

Thought you might like to see my two J 18 repaints.
The personal marking on the D.VII is not historical but for my "alter ego" German pilot Boris Von Hinksman.

So, you stripped them down to component parts... without damaging the original decals?
Amazing work! Nicely done!
Superb work, Ezekeil!

They certainly look very smart in their red and white livery Ezekiel.
