Nice!
Nice!
That would be great if those two planes were released together, it would fill in so many gaps.
@Andrea
And Sweet (I-)16 with Fokker D.XXI
Have they been discussed perhaps?
Dave Schmidt does a nice one - AIM

White Lightning White 23 above is probably from that squadron.
For all the bad and the ugly that was asociated and carried by the USSR, there was something good:
The Red Army was one of the first modern armies to include women in combat role already during WW2. A remarkable fact.
I think it's really good that Ares chosen Lydia Vladimirovna Litvyak as one of the three pilots for its official Yak-1
But there were ofcourse many other famouse Soviet female pilots
Mariya Dolina flew a P-2
Tamara Konstantinova and Anna Yegorova both flew the Il-2 Shturmovik
And there were the ladies of the 588th Night Bomber "Taman" Regiment (the Night Witches), flying the Polikarpov Po-2
Thanks for the info, Ari. Very interesting.
Shall we invent any house rules involving women in air combat?
Do you think they had special inside mirrors in the cockpits

just joking, Rob Frankly I am in a very good mood before incoming Saturday gathering of our group (everyone has time at last and the wives are out partying elsewhere ) that will recreate some Italian Pichiatellos air raid against Malta. Faith, Charity and Hope will be intercepting as it was historically. Hope to write an AAR soon after.

Maybe a great way to get started on the Air-Warfare on the Eastern Front is this documentary by Russian TV: Soviet Storm: World War II In The East - S01E13 The Air War
Video and special effects are top-notch quality, comparable to The History Channel's TV series "Dogfight"
Series is narrated in English and has subtitles for those short parts when actors talk either in Russian or German
Enjoy!
Full Season can be seen here at Hulu
Good news, Rafał! Then we have ducks to hunt for

Does anyone know where I can find Russian and Finnish winter landscape aerial photos in colour (not black and white)? I want to make some I-16 etc. cards, and I would like to use genuine landscape for them.
Thanks!
With all that snow, how can you tell the difference? >;)
I had a disturbing thought today. The Zvezda models may be delayed by the trade sanctions against Russia.
I do have plan B, it's mat we played on in Prague, but it's b&w. And I found some nice pics, but they are taken from 100-200 yards/metres, so are a bit inappropriate for this purpose. And I can't remember films with such aerial frames...
Give me three days, Nemanja.
I have few pictures in colors, I found before those, I used for the winter mat.
I'll be able to upload them on friday at the earliest, while I am on the business trip these days.
I'll wait! Thanks a lot
I have to admit that I was lukewarm on the Soviet plane subject, my primary interest being the War in the Pacific.
But when I saw this Petlyakov Pe-2, posted by Ari in the middle of page one, I think I fell in love with a Russian girl.
It would be good to have some Petlyakov Pe-2 models. It would be good to have any more Russian planes.
Sorry for little delay - busy weekend.
Here are the aerial photos of winter Russia:

Enjoy!
Thanks a lot, Kubajs
Zvezda models of the Tupolev SB-2 are now available in 1/200 scale.
I have spent this Sunday preparing unofficial 1/200 models for Prague Con 2015 Eastern Front scenarios that Kubajs and me are working on. Must say the minis turned out quite nice But there are so many left undone yet... Lend-Lease Airacobras, He-129s...busy weekends ahead...
