Please put me down for 6 also...I'd gladly buy a 6-pack of Kates
Regrettably I have no interest in the Ki-44-IIs

I have to say I'm very excited about the Ki-44. That wing shape is a thing of beauty.
Ah you see Chris the challenge is to field the torp bombers with an escort and see if they can keep the marauding enemy fighters off their backs long enough to do their work.
Or deploy torp bombers first at low level which draws down the defending fighters allowing dive bombers to come on and wreak havoc on the enemy vessels from above.
We used to play the entire game with cards, but the added dimension of miniatures just makes everything better, even if the miniatures are dive-, torp- or level bombers.
My point in the original post was these type of aircraft come into their own in scenario play. Fighter vs fighter is great but if it's the only flavour of Wings of Glory you play it still gets tired.
It's really time for this...
Voilą le soleil d'Austerlitz!
I know someone that won't play Wings. He says he and his friends had played several times it and found it boring. They only did one on one dogfights. I tried to get them into a campaign scenario but he would have none of it. His loss. If I ever see him again I will try to bring him back to the dark side.
The Tojo is really a thing of beauty. Never realised that. Wasn't very impressed with its "announcement". Now I am.
I still would prefer the Oscar before the Tojo, but I understand the thinking here. They want it to intern the B-17s and then (B-29s when the finally get here, someday). But there is no doubt the Tojo is a nice looking plane. I think many will be surprised by how small they were....
Anyway, to take this thread in yet another direction, will this set be the next one to enter production? I would think so....but I am not sure. So the BoB set is right around the corner and likely to be on our tables by the end of the year. If that is the case, then Series 7 seems like it would be next. I know we are suppose to get a Midway starter as well. Based on what I understand, Midway won't happen until BoB sells out and then Midway will be released and then alternated with BoB. So, that puts Midway a year or two out I would think. There is the chance of another long rumored bomber set, which I would be fine with, especially if it includes a Betty and Ju-88. The Ju-88 and/or Do.17 would be great additions to the BoB theme and the Betty would enhance the Pacific Theater. Regardless, I would prefer series 7 before any more bombers. At this point, any new release for WGS is a win in my book and will be embraced by me with arms wide open. Like has been mentioned previously in this thread, a torpedo bomber release would be great as well. Unlike most, I would like to see two series of torpedo bombers released. The first series would include the Kate and Devastator for early war scenarios and the second series would include the Jill and Avenger for Mid and Late war scenarios. I think keeping the Kate and Avenger, I. Separate series, which are the more iconic of the four planes would help sales of those less enthused by Devastators and Jills. Coral Sea and Midway were fought by the Devastators and consequently, I would like to see them, even though they were far for effective aircraft. Yes, there were 6 Avengers based on Midway that were intended for the Hornet's air arm, and used in the battle, but they were small in numbers and not launched from Enterprise, Yorktown, or Hornet. I like scenarios and sending groups from carriers as historically feasible as possible, would be my hope. If the Avengers had been launched from Hornet, they would have been useless anyway.... So, I believe there is a case for the Devastators inclusion in the game, despite its less than stellar track record. Just my 2 cents anyway.

For future bombers, the B-24 Liberator has to be considered. The B-24 was produced in very large numbers. At nearly 19,000 units. It holds the distinction of being the most produced heavy bomber in history, the most produced multi-engine aircraft in history and the most-produced American military aircraft.
It was used on countless single plane missions in the Pacific so would be great for gaming.

The B-24 would be nice. But it's another heavy and I don't know d they are going to do another Heavy with the B-17 and Lanc just recently releasing. I would think two medium bombers more likely. But who knows.
The important thing is that we get 2 out of 3 possible PTO paintjobs for the Lightning.
Bong & McGuire
My two favourites for the P-38!
Voilą le soleil d'Austerlitz!
Exactly, thank you.
With the P-38 and the F4U Corsair two dreams of mine will become true.
Voilą le soleil d'Austerlitz!
Good choice.
Do we have any idea when these will be heading into production? With the BoB starter/series in final production now, I would think these would naturally follow next Spring/Summer. Thoughts? Anyone in the know care to share?
I have seen this thread a few time so I will give my thoughts again. Yes P-38 and Corsair. The others might be a Russian Il-2/Mig or Lagg/Kate or Devastator.. Another thought would be early war with
I-16/Buffalo/Claude and Hs 123 or HE 51.
I-16 Russian/Chinese/Republican AF
Buffalo US/British/Dutch
A5M (Claude) Japanese against P-40/Buffalo/I-16
Hs123 or HE51 Condor Legion.
Would give a variety for early war games.
Is this series still happening? I think it safe to say it has been pushed back in favor of the BoB starter, which in my opinion was the right call. Any inkling if this will be the next WGS product to enter production?
There is also the Battle of Midway starter set to come, Daniel. However, since Ares will probably ignore the 75th anniversary of Midway then I suppose that we may see series 7 after the Bob starters.
You can't pair a P-38 and a Vought F4U Corsair with early war planes.
Same goes for a Il-2.
We have no planes to fight this one.
I think they release it as announced. The Me. 410 Destroyer to fight the heavy 4-engined ones over Germany and the Jap fighter to fight the Americans in the Pacific. ...and that's what I hope, that the Corsair and the P-38 bring back the focus to this theater for a future release of a Jap medium bomber and/or a Jap heavy fighter.
I would like to see a separate series of Spanish Civil War planes, too.
Voilą le soleil d'Austerlitz!
A June Midway release would be nice but seems sadly impossible. I console myself with the knowledge of at least being set up for the 75th of the Doolittle Raid.
For series 7 I am hoping Ares continues with customization options so that I can have a full squadron of unduplicated Corsairs. I also want P38s but would rather see them released with G4Ms.
Totally unrelated, has there ever been talk of producing the Mosquito?
The Mosquito is a plane we all want to see some day.
I would like it as a nightfighter and -bomber.
Voilą le soleil d'Austerlitz!
Just back and saw this. Sven I know you can't pair the P-38 and Corsair with the planes I mentioned. The ones I mentioned would be a series of their own for early war. As mentioned for bombers I would love to see the Betty and Ju 88. There are a number of planes ARES could produce that many here would love to see and have.
I received a notice that there was a new post in this thread and got super excited...
Great looking models, so still worth the click.
I've been out to The National Museum of the United States Air Force several times in the last few weeks, and they have some great stuff out there about Robin Olds, including his F-4 Phantom, which is...I wanna say...Scat XXVII?
The story behind why he grew his mustach is great.
The folks over at Ares would do well to do themselves a favor and get the Corsair & the Hellcat released as soon as possible.
The most glaring ommisions from WoG2 right now have to be the Fw-190A, F4U Corsair, F6F Hellcat, La-5/7/9 & Mig-3; in no particular order, as seen from my seat.
My best friend loves the Corsair, but for the life of me I can't understand there being no F6F Hellcat in this game yet. It's perplexing.
On the WoG1 side, Ares is just rocking it out! Tons of great stuff there, you can just dive in anywhere your little heart desires! Great repaints, great new aircraft, just really awesome!
Most of my friends like the WWII side better however, and I have lots and lots of 1/144 scale planes already to go, just waiting on Ares to release the planes so I can buy them for the manuever decks! I give the planes to a friend of mine because he has the game in the 1/200 scale. Even though I'm a 1/144 scale player, I still like to support the company by buying their products...but come on man...I'll be in a retiremnent home before I see the Hellcat!!!!

Hopefully, once Ares does the Midway starter the PTO will get going - and get organized. It feels like a hodge-podge of planes without organization. Don't get me wrong, I like the aircraft they've provided, but it just doesn't have the same feel as the ETO does regarding missions/battles. For instance, we have a Flying Tiger and no opponent. Personally, I think a good remedy for that would be a dual pack pairing a Flying Tiger (with decals for pilot customization of the Tiger) and an Oscar, Ki43.
Add to that the Messerschmitt Bf 109F (service from the Arctic Circle to North Africa and all points in between) and the Spitfire Mk.V (Channel Front, Malta, North Africa, SW Pacific, Burma, Eastern Front) for some mid-war action.
Kaufy, check out this thread for some WGS 'what if' sets for the future. They remind me of the wish list sets we used to do for A&A, but I think we have more chance of these actually becoming a reality! - http://www.wingsofwar.org/forums/sho...049#post443049
Rob I was turned on to 1/144 a few years ago and have quite a number of F-Toys planes. 3 Hellcats build and a few still in boxes. Played a game last year (Guns of August) with P-38's and Corsairs. Another game had the Hellcats in it. Good models and good game.
I agree on the Corsair and Hellcat but think we can wait for different variants of FW.190 and Me109, Hurricane and Spitfire.
I would much rather see P-38, Betty and Ju.88 or Do.17.
And do we know what the Midway set will entail? I sure hope it won't just be reissues of the previously
released planes. Midway without torpedo bombers is not Midway.
Since you asked, here is a post by Andrea Angiolino on bgg yesterday:
Preemptive question for Keith: Will there be a limit to the number of Corsairs I may order from your shop?Originally Posted by angiolillo
