Indeed, Mr. Manley. That's one of my favourites, too.

I want to see more RNAS/RFC home defenders in Series 10 and only one "plane" for Series 11: a Zeppelin!

A Zeppelin designed as a minis carrier -- get to the table, pop it open, pull out the airplanes, and then attach the "dangly bits" of the zep. :)

One can only hope that they will be nestled safely in their boxes or trays
Of course pups having more pups can't be a bad thing either

While awaiting the arrival of the big birds from across the pond I wondered what the current status of affairs was with series 9 release? It seems to be ages ago it was announced, but all seems quiet on the Western front. Anybody heard of a likely release date for these?

I think we've got the reprint of S3 next. I've lost count of which new series we up to but which ever it is I'd say they will be with us for back end of this year if we're lucky.

Could have sworn it was series 9 next, then series 3 reprints? Oh I give up

Do anyone know if the Albatros and the Strutter counts as 2-seaters or as large 2-seaters?

We've seen pics of Series 9' prototypes already (see a few replies above in this very same topic) but not yet of Series 3 reprint -- I havent even seen any discussion of possible new schemess.
So I would bet my left nutt, not both of'em, but the left one yes, that it will be Series 9, then Series 3 Reprint, then Series 10

I'm just guessing... but I'm assuming that they'll be classified a Two-Seaters, rather than Large Two-Seaters. I could be wrong, but they're pretty close size-wise to the three Halberstadt CL.II, LFG Roland C.II, and the UFAG C.I (quite the compact little two-seater). I'd be more concerned about the Albatros, as it's the biggest of the bunch. To be a little more specific:

    Sopwith 1 1/2 Strutter
    7.7m long with a 10.21m wingspan (32.16m2 wing area)
    Albatros C.III
    8.0m long with a 11.69m wingspan (36.91m2 wing area)
    Halberstadt CL.II
    7.3m long with a 10.77m wingspan (27.50m2 wing area)
    LFG Roland C.II
    7.7m long with a 10.30m wingspan (26.00m2 wing area)
    UFAG C.I
    7.3m long with a 9.45m wingspan

That was my thought to Chris.
    A DH4 is 9.35 m long and a wingspan of 13,2m. That's one size bigger.

Managed to destroy everything but the Raider so the Empire surrendered! A good game, shame about your K Wing getting wiped out by the huge ship before it managed to unleash all its weapons?

Yeah, shouldn't have tried dropping stuff in front of it instead of bugging out - learn by doing ! My A wings made up for it and making the most of the distraction to take the carrier out.

A little early for this... and perhaps we'll need another thread as we get closer. But you'd get no arguments from me for either of those!

Missed this earlier... not as familiar with the Roland, but would love the other three. The tough choice would be H-B biplane or monoplane? I'm a big fan of the W.29.

No, sorry. It's Leutnant Jean Chaput, Escadrille N 57, April 1916.

But you can easily repaint it as an Escadrille Lafayette plane. Or several.

An important note: this is the first series in which a new illustrator join the team. All cards and all color schemes for models had been painted by Vincenzo Auletta, up to now. With these planes, David Méchin start working on his side.

Should be standard two- seater size P-G. Currently up to 15m wingspan has a standard size base & could be considered a standard sized two-seater, though the exact maximum has not been defined, and, as Chris has shown, both the two-seater's have wingspans well below that.

I just took a very close look at the photo of the prototypes listed above, and it looks like only ONE of the Strutters is a one-seat "Comic" (as indicated by the twin guns angled forward over the rear of the upper wing), and at least one of the other two prototypes of it is a two-seat version (as indicated by a single gun pointed toward the tail of the plane AND a single gun pointed toward the front of the plane just visible in front of the upper wing). Am I correct? Could my hopes for multiple versions of the Strutter be true?

He did? Harumph!!! But then, with eight pages of comments in this thread, I'm not surprised I missed something important like that ... even though now I see there were at least a dozen posts on that announcement out there in the open for anybody to see ... oops! ...

All kidding aside ... hurray for the confirmation!!! They all look awesome!!!

Neither am I ! Actually, Herr Oberst got the skinny from Roberto at Ares in post #229 (last June !) following a little confusion over what was being released:
in this release, we'll have the two seat version (two styles) and the "Comic fighter" version (one seat to the rear).

I know that - if it was over 15m wingspan model it may have had a bomber sized base and that may have a bearing on the storage too !

You are a kind and careing member Dave
I find it easier to guess the scouts than the 2-seaters for some reason.
N11 must be a "scout" and the Poenix a "large scout"

Yes, it may be early, but why not day dreaming!

Here is my wish list for Series 10:

    Pfalz D.XII
    LFG Roland D.VI
    Sopwith Pup
Pomilio PE or Ansaldo A 1 Balilla

Maybe for series 10, Ares can finally provide official rules (and official models, of course) for the FE2b and FE2d? Pretty please?

I like your list. I think the French need a 2 seat fighter like the Spad XI also.

I agree with you, and I would love seeing a "Salmson 2" too
But there is a French version of Sopwith 1 1/2 Strutter in this series, so I'm not dying for a French two-seater right now. The Italians, on the other hand, don't have any two-seater yet, not even an Italian version of an allied plane. That's why I want a Pomilio -- even better than an Ansaldo A1, which would have been my first choice for a new Italian model otherwise.

Now, if we want a French heavy-fighter, this is what we really need:

I had thought so... but I can't positively identify this model (Albatros C.III 766/16 - Bohme/Lademacher) in the pic of the new shared by Andrea.
