Yeah, gotta get me some of these.
Another rocket firer! Balloons beware!
Giannino Ancillotto was a real badass. He was awarded a golden medal for a mission on this very Nieuport. He was so concentrated diving on the drachen, trying to get so close to be sure that the erratic rockets would hit it, to pass across the exploding balloon since once it was sure that it was being destroyed it was too late to avoid it.
He was back home with huge pieces of balloon hanging from his plane.
Part of that was used to make a coat that he gave as a givt to the Duke of Aosta, commander of thye 3rd Army Ancillotto belonged to.
Actually the balloon was not gray as in the fantasy depiction on the newspaper above, but yellow. The yellow of the Wings of War balloon has been chosen from that pieces of canvas. That I never saw - but my friend Paolo Varriale, who visited several Italian aces' families for his book for the Italian Air Force Ministry (in English by Schiffer), had them in his very hands and gave us instructions for that.

Could this be a hint that Ares are considering re-releasing the balloon models?
Yes they are. The Rules Pack already has rules for them...
More sneek peeks, love it. Can't wait to get them all.

Not quite the image I have.
Very nice . But when can we buy them????
I'm learning to fly, but I ain't got wings
Coming down is the hardest thing
Want all three? Definately!
But sadly no more than two. (Or three.......)
I fell in love to the Austrian-Hungarian / Italy front.
So I need each Italian model to fight the A-H Albatros D.III & D.II.
Shame on you Watchdog!
A French Nieuport 11 is obligatory.
Voilą le soleil d'Austerlitz!
Thanks for the great previews.
As always I'll be buying one of everything and maybe two of each of the Phonix aircraft.
I'm also very honored by your quote.
Yes indeed, those previews of the Nieuports make me even more keen to get my hands upon them all.

I'll probably give the AH planes a miss, Shepeways gave me the others years ago but I may well get a few anyway for some variety, the Nieuports in particular.
I'll get one of each for the collection, but many of these will be hangar queens for me. There are actually several minis from past Series that have never taken flight on my table
Most of my models have not seen combat either but some of them are getting so valuable that I do not want to risk them.
I think all my Aircrafts have seen combat at leased once. But then I only have 70 or so minis
Im pleased to say all except newly completed minis, three seaplanes and two Strutters , two of "those" aircraft and Kibanovs Nieuport have flown, Out of quite a few in my collection. "Those aircraft we got for the sake of completeness and even though fixed have not been flown yet.
But now intend to get all of next series
Mainly the ones earmarked to appear in Solo AARs where we have not yet hit the time schedule or passed it before the aircraft was available.

I want series 9 more than anything else because it populates the rather threadbare 1916 time period. Apart from these, a couple of series 3 & 4 reprints (and of course the slowly approaching super bombers) im struggling to see if the game has much future left in it in terms of new releases (im sure it will continue to be played for decades to come).
Well I can see a few more series to come without pushin' it.
Entente more than CP though

I would think there are a fair number of 'availables' still out there - granted, probably more Entente rather than Central Powers planes - depending on how esoteric Ares decides to go with things...although they have produced some fairly esoteric versions of the planes they have produced so far.
I think there are plenty more to come (hopefully) And if they were to do more two-seaters for all concerned, there could be quite a few still...even though those aren't really 'sexy' plane types...
I'll be happy when I get my giants and when this series comes out!
All the best,
Matt
Well there are still some Major aircraft lacking particularly for the Allies as others have stated.
Three vital ones just for starters:
BE 2 series
Sopwith Pup
FE 2b
These are iconic WW1 aircraft & must be made available.
On the Reprint side the SE 5a MUST be brought forward if only as a stand alone reprint or via a Entente Double pack such as it & a Pup!
With only 3 paint schemes per release we could easily have repeats of series in completely new schemes.
The French and Italians could easily have more releases as well as Russia.

But thereare still some CP planes lacking:
Fokker EIV and DII/III, Roland DII/ VI and Pfalz DXII for example.
With 49 examples of the E.IV made, and hated by their pilots, I would rather have a reprise of something else inserted.
Moreover, it's release would just encourage the munchkins to try and fly the 3 gun version, which never flew, and would have killed it's pilot the first time he tried to shoot down another plane.

Well that is the backside
There are still a few Sopwiths I would like to see apart from the Goat, ie. Pup, Dolphin and Baby for instance.

The Pup is a very, very obvious next release, isn't it?
Hopefully
Well past due for the Pup

There are quite a number of Central Powers two-seaters and seaplanes that could be produced and more French aircraft.
Very nice can't wait.
Works for series 10 are in progress.
