Any relation to the Captain Hedeby bloke who was court martialed for cowardice in the face of the enemy?
Well done Chris, see you in the bar

My hats off to you both
I'm sure I said promotions barred not board....but what the heck. Congratulations, and your flight had better be top notch too!
Well done Rob, what a way to hit 25k and 5 years too.
See you on the Dark Side......

Usually, this meant you were in his bad books, and worse things were soon to follow. And it usually meant that junior officers were noticed by higher command, and their "performance under pressure" was evaluated out of proportion to their peers. If they "survived" the scrutiny, they got promoted.
So, Chris obviously performs well under pressure. A good characteristic for a combat officer. Or will he pick up that other nickname for someone skirting trouble, "the Teflon officer"?
Congrats, Chris.
Rob, unbelievable!

May I draw your attention to the following document Squadron Leader Guntruck.
After careful consideration of the case by the Officers convened by the Courts Martial, and giving due consideration to the devoted and diligent service rendered by the defendant, for which he was recently made a Companion of the Order of the Bulldog. COB. The charges brought by Squadron Leader Skafloc against Captain Hedeby are hereby dismissed, and he may leave this court without a stain on his character, even if there are a few on his uniform.
Signed.

Triple celebration, yay!
Make mine a triple brandy, please!
Great news! Well deserved, and Hedeby is always a pleasure to do battle with/against.
25k posts is also not to be sniffed at! Well done Rob. I did miss my WingCo at Derby on WW1, and the jolly banter and all

Head on over to my Banner album, there's something waiting for you: Banner Album

Thank you very much - I am honoured, genuinely
and Rob I am even more honoured that I could be the subject of post number 25,000
err.. how do I attach my new shiny banner?
Chris,
It appears this isn't in the training manual, but...
1. Download the banner from my album.
2. Go to your Edit Signature tab on the left of your screen, under My Settings.
3. Edit Signature. Only four lines, max, including the picture.
4. Upload the image you want using the Signature Picture box, use Option 2 to get the image.
5. Click the "Insert Signature Picture" at the top of the Signature Picture Box to place it in your Edit Signature Box.
Preview Signature to make sure you're happy with it.
Next time you post, your banner will be at the bottom of your post. PM with questions, if it doesn't work.

Awesome thank you
any reason why I can't find edit signature option?
Ooooh!
Chris, are you not a Gold Member?
OK, James [Far East] is firmly of the belief that I'm in league with Keith [Oberst Hajj] in boosting the Gold Membership of the Forum. I'm not, but it's hard to convince people when I inadvertently tease them with a banner that can't be used without that level of membership.
Sorry.

Congratulations Chris, well deserved
Gentlemen would be an honour to drink your good health
Triple congrats, triple beer!!
Realised I need to upgrade to a gold account - just working out how to do that
After consultation with the Squadron Leader North of England, and in consideration to his dedication and effort in running the South Yorkshire Flight, it gives me great pleasure to announce the promotion of Flight Leader Hedeby to the Rank of Squadron Commander Yorkshire, and 2Ic to Squadron Leader Skafloc. In light of the size of the Yorkshire command, his primary duty will be to coordinate the four current Flight's programmes, and ensure that new recruits are made welcome and integrated into the Wing.
If any other Squadron Leaders have recommendations for promotions in their areas at this time please send me a PM.
Congratulations Chris.
Rob.

Well done Chris . A deserved promotion.
Down the Mess immediately.
Paul
I'm learning to fly, but I ain't got wings
Coming down is the hardest thing
Costs $5.00 per month - this is what I have currently. This is definitely in Paid Subscriptions / British Ranks if I remember correctly where I think I saw Gold Membership / $5.00 per month at the time of joining the Aerodrome and thought this was well worth having
Chris this is a fantastic promotion - well deserved. First two pints of whatever you are drinking from Myself and the Wife (Mazzle)
However it is also from us two for the WingCo chalking his latest milestones up at the same time too ... Well Done All Round!
Congrats Chris, well done that man. A Port if you please
Thanks to the board and thank you folks for the kind comments - #happy and humbled
Never Knowingly Undergunned !!
Chris
congratulations...
mine's at least two pints !
Congrats Chris Thanks Rob for your great input
Well done Chris, well deserved. Now if you could just look over these 98 applications for spares, the lack of butter in the mess and the patrol roster for the next 6 months, oh and anything else that needs filing, before I get back from my weekend in Paris. That would be great.

See you on the Dark Side......
Well done Chris, Congrats.
Sigh ! , yes sir
Never Knowingly Undergunned !!
Guess I will need to get my banner updated - time to PM Mike, lol
Never Knowingly Undergunned !!
Many congratulations Chris - very well deserved indeed!
With all you do for the folks on the 'Drome, this promotion looks to be a sure-fire winner!
Now, where's that Brandy bottle?
Many Congratulations, Chris, on your promotion to Squadron Commander Yorkshire! This is a well deserved promotion for all that you have done for the game.
May I also float this idea: The U.K. Wing has many members. Would Oberst Hajj consider upgrading it from a Wing to a Group and promote Rob to Group Captain? That would leave space for promoting some of the current Squadron leaders to Wing Commanders, where appropriate. I do not wish to offend the members of the Wings in other countries by this suggestion.

Another step towards Yorkshires UDI perhaps ?!

Great idea. If this was ever actioned it would create the first Group on the Aerodrome and I am in favour because we do indeed have many Members and the numbers continue to rise on a monthly basis. The creation of new opportunities within the UK Wing Command Structure would also be an exciting move which IMHO would help enormously to reduce that aura of cliquiness which this has accidentally created for some as aired recently during Squadrongate. This move would also continue to aspire and encourage those who have chosen to view this matter differently and joined with promotion into the Command Structure one day maybe in mind.
Offence: Best way to minimise and maybe avoid altogether IMHO is to present Members with such an idea instead of confronting them with it ... Also known as actioning this idea but on a trial-basis initially. Then should things not work out for the first Group ever known to the Aerodrome that is easily convertible to trial-basis only D-> bash it all up and revert to the way things were.
