Thread: How to say to your wife how much you love her

Default How to say to your wife how much you love her

Few weeks ago, while browsing the internet for Czech pilots in Austro-Hungarian army, I found the story about Fp.Haupt. Josef Novák (the wingman of Brumowski) and some pictures of his plane. His main plane was the Albatros D.III Oeffag nr. 153.137 with his initials (J and N) on the upper wing and with the acronym of his girlfriends name (Lil) on the fuselage. No colors on the airplane, just canvas. What an easy repaint I said to me. I've scraped away the decals from Hautzmayers Albatros by Nexus and added mine. That’s all.

    And then…

    The ingenious idea!

I can make me the decals for some plane with MY initials and with the name of MY wife.

Because I’m the Czech man, I wanted some Austrian airplane. And I found that the Ares has released the exactly one I need. Aviatik D.I – Sabeditsch (WGF110B). It doesn't need any painting, just add the decals.
    Here are the results:
Josef Novák – Lil and Jakub Veverka – Moni.

Another planes from Ares production, I can recommend to this easy customizing are: Fokker E.III – Buddecke, Halberstadt D.III – Keudell, Morane-Saulnier N – Navarre, Sopwith Triplane – Dallas, Albatros D.II – Szepessi-Sokoll, Fokker D.VII – Goering, Sopwith Snipe - Kazakov.
They all have enough space on fuselage and upper wing.

For my wife (then fiancee from Wales) I helped flavor her interest in WoG with her own Welsh Dragon plane.

    Very cool, Kubajs.

My problem is that Sue is the modeler.

In the past, she has given me cooking utensils while I gave her power tools. Somewhere, our wires were crossed.

PS: The combination of WoG and historical aspect of Old Town in Prague... Hmm, Andrzej, what your wife said last time?

Oh, good knight, Chris, you can't pawn off such a pun that easily. That is the sure sign of a rookie, and here, we thought you were the king of such things. Well, I am glad I finally got that off my chess.

    Very cool.

My wife has painted her own (all in all, she's a better minis painter than I), but I did scratch build her a Caudron G.4.

We talked about Prague on our way home from Doncaster. It will all depend on when it is and if we both can arrange our schedules to go. Fingers crossed.

    Very cool!

A few years ago I painted some 25mm medieval knights with various heraldic devices on the shields. On one of them, I painted my wife's family's coat-of-arms. She thought it was great.

I'm glad you like it. Thanks for the reputations, guys.
It was just a little work, but makes her really happy.

Nice plames Daniel!!! Udet painted his girlfriend name in almost all of his planes: The Albatri, the Fokker D.VII, the Fokker Dr.I, etc, etc. I always liked the idea of painting a unique and personal detail in each plane. But first I have to have the planes.
