    Lightbulb Balloon Observer over Arras

    Balloon Observer over Arras
    Prague, 23rd September 2014
    4 players, 4 planes, 1 balloon, 2 static machineguns

    Date of mission: 8th April1917
Location: Arras, France, under British command
Story: During preparation of attack on Hindenburg line near Arras, Entante needs to focus best targets for their support artillery. Germans spotted the British balloon and send two planes of legendary Jasta 11 (old D.II and shiny new prototype of D.Va) to shoot down it. Red Baron is on the prowl...
    Central Powers Forces: 1x Albatros D.II (A, incendiary ammunition), 1x Albatros D.Va (A)
    Entente Forces: 1x observation balloon, 1x SPAD VII (B), 1x Sopwith Triplane (B), 2x static machineguns (B)
Central Powers victory conditions: destroy balloon in 12 turns
Entente victory conditions: shoot down both enemy planes before they destroy the balloon
    Special rules: incendiary ammunition
Result: Entante won - they destroys both enemy fighters soon.
Balance: 80 %. Worked well despite difference between guns (4x B for Entante vs. 2x A).

After the collision (both cards exactly on the same place) SPAD breaks away from the enemy. Albatros is forgetting to shoot on the static machine gun (but the soldier in the trench did not forget).

    Nice little action Daniel.
Some very smart flying by the Brits saved the day for that Balloon.

I have a story to this AAR:

First of all, I found the month (but it is bad, because Alb. D.II and D.Va never meet each other in service): OK, April 1917.
    Hmm, what happend there?
I checked the timeline: "Attack on Hindenburgh Line".
    Fine, but where?
Oh, two main battlefields - Arras sounds nice.
Please, I need a British sector...
    Yes, British forces were here!
Well, I see red new Albatros D.Va, so it is Manfred von Richthofen.
    Which Jasta? 11? Well, well.
But some guys on forum can tell me that Jasta 11 was elsewhere during April. Hmm, whrere it was?
    Arras! Yes, awesome!
Moment, moment...April 1917? APRIL? BLOODY APRIL?

And sudenlly, all fits together in that moment...

Another great AAR Daniel, even if the Albatri were mismatched time wise !

Loved all the pictures and seeing the Wings of War playing maps from above. It gives me something to pattern my home-made map on. Great after-action report, Daniel!

All the best in future endeavours,
