Balloon Observer over Arras
Prague, 23rd September 2014
4 players, 4 planes, 1 balloon, 2 static machineguns
Date of mission: 8th April1917
Location: Arras, France, under British command
Story: During preparation of attack on Hindenburg line near Arras, Entante needs to focus best targets for their support artillery. Germans spotted the British balloon and send two planes of legendary Jasta 11 (old D.II and shiny new prototype of D.Va) to shoot down it. Red Baron is on the prowl...
Central Powers Forces: 1x Albatros D.II (A, incendiary ammunition), 1x Albatros D.Va (A)
Entente Forces: 1x observation balloon, 1x SPAD VII (B), 1x Sopwith Triplane (B), 2x static machineguns (B)
Central Powers victory conditions: destroy balloon in 12 turns
Entente victory conditions: shoot down both enemy planes before they destroy the balloon
Special rules: incendiary ammunition
Result: Entante won - they destroys both enemy fighters soon.
Balance: 80 %. Worked well despite difference between guns (4x B for Entante vs. 2x A).
Setup of the game
Sopwith turned in the right moment and he is attacking D.II now.
And he set fire in the cocpit of the old Albatros.
After the collision (both cards exactly on the same place) SPAD breaks away from the enemy. Albatros is forgetting to shoot on the static machine gun (but the soldier in the trench did not forget).
Red Baron turns to the balloon, but the defender know his plans.
On the other side of the city, the hunt continues...
...but the first static gun is eliminated.
All planes are too close together - collisions on the both sides - but Manfred von Richthofen is shooting on the balloon...
...and once more!
Randezvous in the shadow of the ballon - 4 damage cards in total.
And the old crap is down!
Richthofen did an Immelman and he is preparing for the next attack now. But the Triplane is preparing too...
And the last bullets of the fight for Rittmeister.
April 1917 was really bloody...
