Default Ju-87 wreck found in Adriatic Sea

    http://vojnapovijest.vecernji.hr/u-m...og-rata-963200

It's probably Italian Ju-87R-2 damaged by Yugoslav AA fire during April War 1941. Airplane was forced to crash-land at sea near island of Žirje (now at Croatia, it's 22km SW from Šibenik).

Italian 239. Squadriglia, 97 Gruppo Bombardamento a tuffo attacked on April 12th Yugoslav ships of 2nd Torpedo Division and hydroplane squadron near Jadrtovac. One Ju-87 was shot and his crew killed, and other crash-landed at sea surface and sunk.

Looks like it's in good shape; hopefully, funding will be found to recover and restore it.
    Thanks for sharing, Heмaњa.

Thanks Nemanja! It seems the engine part was totally ripped off. Is tthere any info on other parts of the plane that possibly ad been found elswhere there? Lack of canopies may lead to a conlucion, that the crewmen parachuted...

    Thanks, guys!

    Andrzej,

only info in the text about the parts is that the "engine is nearby" ("...motor se nalazi u blizini."), but other sources say that wreck is actually in great shape (put away engine).

Be good to think they could bring it up and restore it. Other than the RAF Museum Stuka, the only other ones I have seen are wrecks in the Berlin Technical Museum and the Technical Museum at Speyer. Are there any other restored examples about?

I do hope that it can be rescued.
They are so good at restoration these days even on things that have been immersed in salt water for centuries.
We can but hope. After all it is more substantial than a possible crate of buried Spitfires.
