Just watched the Sky news vid of this eruption.
Prayers go out to all those families who have suffered a bereavement and hope that all others on the mountain are rescued soon.
Hope that James and his family are ok.

See you on the Dark Side......
I pray that all people there are alright. I hope too that James and his family are ok.
I'll pray for those involved as well. Does James live anywhere near this eruption?
PS: For those reading who don't know what this is, here's a news link:

Apparently he lives in a city southwest of Tokyo. Thank god. But who knows. Im still worried.
Thanks for the Heads Up on this Chaps. Down here we are a bit behind the news.
I to hope everything is AOK with James & his extended Japanese family.
Heared in the radio that this mountain is 200 km in the western direction from Tokyo/Yokohama.
I think James is well out of range.
A pity with those killed tourists.
Voilà le soleil d'Austerlitz!
A tragedy...
Wife watched a video of a group on mountain as Volcano went off. Haven't seen this one yet. Glad it is well away from James. Just hope there are no more fatalities.
See you on the Dark Side......
Me and the family are fine, we are about 2 hours drive from the location and we have actually been there on several occasions as there are a lot of onsen and natural springs in this area as well as some great climbing and cycling.
I'm closer to a rather larger volcano called Mt. Fuji.....if that erupts I'll be toast!
What was alarming about this event was there was absolutely zero natural giveaways to the eruption as normally there are ground tremors, gas releases and other indicators and they will close of the mountain and surrounding springs and onsen that are part of the mountain, but this time it just erupted with zero indicators.
Saw that on the news this am - horrendous for those involved, glad you're well away from it James.
Glad to hear you and yours are safe James - my thoughts are with those affected by this tragedy.
Only came in at the end of the News last night and did not know it was in Japan.
Glad you and yours are safe James, but very sad that others were not so lucky.
Rob.

The pictures taken on the spot show a grey deadly ground with only rescue teams in bright color jackets...
