Thread: Doncaster - New recruit!

    Default Doncaster - New recruit!

It was so great to meet so many of Rob's Wingmen at Doncaster. I was a 'driver', rather than a 'Flyer' but you all seemed to be having so much fun and were so friendly towards me that I have finally succumbed to the lure of the Drome! It only cost Kyte a pair of shoes and a handbag.
I hope to see some of you again at Derby.
    Eileen (Mrs Kyte)

G'day Mrs Kyte & welcome Eileen to the 'drome from down in Australia.

    Welcome to the 'drome, Eileen.

I'm going to throw self-preservation to the wind, and give my version of the above: "Behind every successful man is the woman that made it necessary."

And the comment, "It only cost him a handbag and a pair of shoes." could be daunting. It depends on the name of the designer in each case. Not to mention a new handbag needs to be filled, and shoes make more shopping possible. The costs could escalate.

The flip side, more minis will be needed for a new collection. Unless we revert to the other rule in our house. What's her's is her's, and what's mine is her's. Which could lead to F.O. Kyte needing to start another collection?

    It is soo complicated.

If I bring my Better Half to the Meet next year, I may have to find her someone else to hang out with. Eileen might be a bad example? And Marion won't be much better, now that I ponder this whole thing.

    Even more complicated.

Well. Still a hearty welcome, Eileen. Perhaps you and Rob can shoot me down virtually a few times for practice before we get over in person.

Welcome from here in Tunbridge Wells Eileen (chaps, I think we'd better play down the volume of G&T's Kyte consumes in future )

Thanks for the warm welcome chaps. No worries about the drinks in the Officers' mess - I'm well aware of the G&T's imbibed. I have no need to count Kyte's planes, as long as he doesn't tot up my fabric and thread.

I suspect that protocol directs that I should afford my own Good Lady the same consideration which I give to all new members of the Drome. Therefore, it is with great pleasure that I welcome Mrs Kyte to the U.K. Wing.
I am sure that the chaps will look after you just as well as they have done for me.
Let us then amble over to the Officer's Mess together, and share a small libation with the other pilots.

    Hi Eileen, welcome from Essex.

Rob got away lightly. It would probably cost a new car to get Mrs Guntruck to have anything to do with wargames in general and aeroplanes in particular

Thanks for the welcome Mark - everyone has been very friendly.
I'm mainly there in the background but Rob has been painting up a plane for me, so it looks like it will soon be ready for a few sorties.

    Hi John.
I'm sure that we can arrange something one evening.
It would be nice to have the company of you both away from the hurley burley of the Knot for a change.
    Eileen.
