Typically, a smartphone is used as a QR code scanner, displaying the code and converting it to some useful form (such as a standard URL for a website, thereby obviating the need for a user to type it into a web browser).

    Very instructive thank Zoe.
As one of the Dinosaurs here I knew that they existed, just not how they worked.
I guess I was just too lazy to bother finding out.

With Rob on this; also, since I lack a smart phone, it's a moot point for me.
Nice for the younger, techier crowd here though.

That is a very easy and smart solution. I use it sometimes.
My 2 cents: It would be awesome to have the code printed on a Forum visit card some of us have. Than a recipient would be able to scan it and get here without typing.
I'll try to place it printing a second series of my cards.

I was getting a new WGS Eastern Front mat from a print shop today and the owner asked me "What the hell? The map is wonderful! What's the puropose?" So I told him about WoG, showed pics from the game and wrote the site address. If I had such a visit card with the code he would have get here on the spot.

Andrzej, you read my mind. May be I can make a set of visit cards with QR (directly to the Czech or Polish section on the Aerodrome) on the rear side. Pity, I can not create a template

That was the intent of me posting this, yes. To make it easier to do this. I'm getting some printed up. If I were the Oberst, I'd include some with each order (hint hint) and have some to hand out at conventions.

When I saw the title I thought it was about Q signals in Morse Code. Shows what I know.
