A very nice seaplane of which I know very little, Rob. It gives lots of opportunities in your Malta Universe, doesn't it?
It is interesting how different theatres grow on different individuals ("We are all individuals!"). I am now rather turning east with my collection, to feel the refreshening cold of winter winds...Well, the winter is coming.

    All very true Andy.
I think that Malta would not have surfaced had not my old Technician told me about serving there in the Royal Artillery during the Siege.

Yes, individual war stories are often amazing, enlighting.
Some say defense of Malta was one of the turning points of the war.

Aha. A question. Is that a historical camo scheme?

    All,
I dropped the card project for this plane. Do we have stats for this? I could try to wedge this back into my list.

As far as I know it is the only picture of it in colour which I used for my source material.I have only one other picture of it on Malta and that is black and white Andy. Until about a month ago i did not even know which type of seaplane it was that absconded from french North Africa.

Relined for better detail, and recolored to better match Rob's plane:

Is this OK for WoG standard cards? Do we have a "Medium" size to put this on?

That is a great card Mike.
It is close to the size of the ME 110 but as it will only appear in my solo games and with no one to gainsay me, as the fire arcs resemble so closely the Stuka, I am going to fly it on one of Keith's Stuka bases.

On page 110 he states it was repainted in standard RAF colours (I assume similar to other coastal command planes of Extra Dark Sea Grey and Dark slate Grey).
The fuselage roundel did have a Yellow outer ring as well.

I think I found a pirated version of the illustrations, and I used this to produce the camo scheme:

Good job Rob. Presumably there was a Latecoere actually flying from Malta?

Yes a single plane flew there (see the side profile with some details in French). I have a picture of it already in RAF markings in the harbor next to a Sunderland.

The malta plane was HB2-5 arriving 5 July 1940 from Algeria.
I made one of my models as HB1-5 (left in picture) also serving in Algeria:

    Top down pictures?

    Copy of the anchored roundel?

I have this one, but it's different:

PS: Interesting, but the only places I can find the interior anchor roundel is on decal sheets. How accurate is that?

    Mike,
I agree it is not common BUT the Latecoere seems to have had numerous iterations of insignia from no anchor to ones only covering the centre Blue circle to ones covering the White circle and then to the more common ones covering the outer red circle.
here are some pictures I googled that show a number of aircraft with these insignia.
clarity is not great in some but you can see the anchor.

    Peter,
I thought as much. Decal sheets usually have some basis in reality. I go to a web site that has decent resolution of roundels to translate into graphic layers for plane cards. It is usually very accurate, but it shows the "most official" versions, not every version.

    Thanks.

Did you want cards? Top down photos or reference drawings?
