Default Wings Over The South East - or - Donny's Little Brother !

Rather than letting the chaps attending Doncaster have all the fun this weekend I've colluded with members of the South East Squadron and Tunbridge Wells Wargames Society and we will be taking to the air on Sunday afternoon for a Donnybrook of our own !
Fed up with seeing our beloved chips shops dashed to pieces by the dastardly Hun we have resolved to strike back and will be launching a reprisal attack against their sausage production facilities in a bold move that is sure to shorten the war !
3 or 4 chaps have been unable to make it this time around but we have managed to gather 9 or 10 players who can of which 7 are forum members; even if not particularly active on the forum, they are keen players !
If this is something you fancy joining in with now or in the future then drop me a pm.

    Have a good one Dave.
Mind you it is the wurst decision you could have made.

Now I realized you will not attend the Doncaster event, Dave. Very sad.

Sadly I was never in a position to attend Doncaster Andrzej - this gathering had nothing to do with that decision.

First question I asked them was if they intending to go Neil - none of them said they were and none of them had signed up - I'm sure they will pipe up if they are.
It's about five hours drive from where I am to Doncaster (M.25 and Dartford Crossing permitting), at least that's what the computer says - I think that's optimistic myself but you never know !

Yep, I can understand that my little trip to WMMS should have been 4 hours took 5 and 6 on the way home..all down to road works.

The Dartford crossing just stops due to sheer volume of traffic - took me 45 mins to transit the queue last time I went and it wasn't even rush hour !

Would love to do donny Neil, but as Dave says it's a big old trek, although I don't get the joy of the dartford tunnel, I get the 40mph zone (if you're lucky) from the A23 all the way round to the M1! So as an official splitter I say tthhhrrssssp!
Good luck with Donny. May all the damage cards you receive be 0 or Jams.

On the subject of the dartford crossing my pal rode pillion on his mrs' Vespa on the way back over the bridge on a windy day and that was the last time he rode pillion with her.

My heartfelt thanks to those of the South East Squadron and the TWWS who attended this inaugural meet, the laughter, banter, blood and bullets made for a grand afternoon of Wogaming !
The RFC won a pyrrhic victory by smashing the bratwurst production of the Kaisers army - the cost was high - 7 x DH4 & 2 x DH9 paying the ultimate price, the last two DH4 felled at their moment of victory. General Melchett would have been proud of us .... !

Andy (Ajay) the 'Salute' chip shop bomber, Si (Twisted_terrain) an OTT pilot, Mark (chequers) PBeM the maestro & Andy (Taz)

We were later joined by Terry (TWWS) who made the numbers up to nine this time out.

    Dave,

Thanks for all the preparation. We certainly left some Saur Krauts didn't we

What with you catching wounds and booms, and the frequent use of ramming, it felt like old home week

The most annoying thing was Paul flying off in Goering's DVII with two Entente kills and a downed friend by ramming (we don't buy the "he was a spy flying a captured DVII" do we????) - he wasn't playing fair, as I am sure it's in the unofficial TWWS rules that he gets a "Boom" card when flying!!

Cheers for sorting this out Dave, it was a blast, good to put faces to names. Our brave German pilots did their best, well some did, I do have to remember my left from my right.
And a tip of my hat to zee tommis, especially Brian and his indestructible (almost) spad, Daves bomber crews obviously had their carrots this morning, it'll be pickled cabbage and no bratwurst for us for the next couple weeks. However I did manage to lay my hands on Brian's giant sausage...

A foul calumny started by the Kaiser's propaganda machine - you were just trying to recover a captured German sausage

Maybe next time out we can have a larger "shoot the Zep" game, when you can find out first hand just how unpleasant "Brian's giant sausage" is

I am sure I heard Dave mutter something about my deck-shuffling skills at several points throughout the day Neil He was also heard to ask just how many 5+Wound cards there were!

I had the 5 Wounded Pilot card five times (twice on the first aircraft) in the course of the game and a 3 WP once ! Si got a 5WP too ! I think I can now claim the 5WP magnet without prejudice ! Wound On !!

Good to hear your bash was just as successful as the Doncaster one went.
Even though you chaps were unable to join us in body obviously were in spirit and so a great time had by one and all.

Because of this , if any of the chaps attending the little brother bash are interested, I still have some of the Doncaster pin badges available, Ł4 is the cost and there is a pic of the badge in the Get together thread.
Pm me if you are interested in obtaining one.

I should have written re:email. Sorry Dave, another blond moment.
I'll see if I can convince any of the others to come to warfare. Although I'm pretty sure some'll be playing FOW anyway.

Edit. B'day party to go to, me an the missus will get a night out, together!

Great to see that you all had a good time at Donny's Little Brother. it was just a pity that you could not make it up North. however, you were all remembered, and maybe next year some of you will be able to make the trek. I hope to get down to at least one game in the South again next year, and may see you there. Until then keep up the good work chaps and thank you for all your efforts down in the SE this year.
