So, my first sortie with WGS did not go according to plan.
Leutnant Wunder of JG. 26 took off from his airfield in his FW-190 for a routine maintenance flight in the late afternoon. The sun was just beginning to set and the young leutnant was rushing to get home. He failed to notice the 2 American P-51's closing at an alarming rate.
One of the Americans made a head on pass, the young pilots plane was riddled with holes before he knew what was happening. He tried making some evasive maneuvers and managed to fire a few rounds into his crazy American opponent. Then the second American opened fire from directly behind. There was nothing the young pilot could do His plane was no longer responding to his controls. He slid the canopy back and jumped from his stricken aircraft. His parachute opened without incident as he watched the American fly off and his aircraft tumble towards the ground.
Fortunately he landed without incident in the middle of an infantry unit and he was taken back to his base and the rage of his commanding officer.
The wife and boy had a good time beating up on me all weekend. We only played one round of WGS to give it a try. Things obviously did not go well. I was blown out of the sky by my wife rather quickly after my sons devastating head on pass. The new mechanics are taking some time to work out but I'm reserving judgement until a few more games are played. We also played 2 rounds of WGF which again ended with me going down in flames. I'll add those to the WGF AAR's. The damage gods were not with me this weekend to say the least. The new game mats are amazing though. The entire family loved them
