Default The Three animated movies/series that touched you the most

Third and last installment of the "Three..."
Following my previous threads of the "Three Games and Movies" I challenge you to choose the Three animated movies/series that Touched you the Most.
They don't have to be the best that you saw, just the three ones that comes to mind when you think of it.
    For me it was:

Conan the Boy from the Future "Mirai shônen Konan" (1978) - Hayao Miyazaki
My Neighbor Totoro "Tonari no Totoro" (1988) - Hayao Miyazaki
Castle in the Sky "Tenkû no shiro Rapyuta" (1986) - Hayao Miyazaki

    Animated series? Tough one.....

    Battle of the Planets
    Lassie's Rescue Rangers
Up (the first 5 minutes is without doubt one of the most powerful and heart wrenching pieces of cinema in any genre and style)

Akira - That was the first ever Anime I ever saw and then 13 years later as I was driven through Tokyo on the Aqua line and Tomie Express Way I couldn't help but here the music of that film as the biker gangs race over exactly the same roads.

Kurenai no Buta - When right at the end you realise he actually is dead along with all the other airmen that you see ascend in to the clouds at the beginning.

Mononoke Hime - Great film about the destruction of nature by the greed of man - that kid has one bad ass bow arm!

For those that love Totoro....... there is a lot of people here in Japan that believe that both girls are dead, its very deep and why they can ride the Neko Bus and also how the mother can see them in the tree at the end.

Here is a western translation of what is very commonly beleived by fans here in Japan (It's not his original sub-plot theory)

    http://www.tofugu.com/2013/08/15/con...theory-totoro/

Although Ghibli put an end to the speculation that "oh no the girls aren't dead" Miyazaki films are pretty dark and always have a sub-plot about death..... look what will happen to the parents in Spirited Away and also the Witch takes the souls of her servants by removing their names.... .that's very poignant in Japanese culture.

Then you have two films I just absolutely love!

Nasu: Summer in Andalusia & Nasu: A Migratory Bird with Suitcase

Both are about professional bike racing and was done by Kitarō Kōsaka and featuring Ken'ichi Yoshida who are supervisors on Studio Ghibli. They used many new techniques in these movies that you later see in "Spirited Away". (The Garden scene were the hedges and flowers rush by her).

There are so many Ghibli Studio characters in this film!

I like Princess Mononoke too. Cant remember quite well, but it was good. I can remember of an anime type film that I saw one day about Nagasaki/Hiroshima bombardments. The protagonists were the Japanese civilians. Does anyone know the name?
    Thanks

Sorry I'm a bit "vintage" about the subject but my favorite series are :

    - Captain Harlock (Albator)
    - Lodoss War
    - UFO Robot Grendizer (Goldorak)

Moreover, one of my first "Home Made" Boardgame was created using the Goldorak series.

    Okay, I can not say these had any particular impact on my life but I certainly enjoyed these very much. While not classical or insightful or thought provoking, still a fun watch for me. They are in no particular order;

    Samurai 7
    Vash the stampede: Trigun
    Cowboy Bebop

    1. Alegro Non Tropo. It was the Italian Fantasia. I still love the "Bolero" animation. When most people hear Bolero playing they think of Torvel and Dean, I on the other hand think of Alero non Tropo. Where the droplete of Coke creates the entire evolution of a planet.

    2. Zoids Chaotic Century. I used to watch it with my son when he was about 3 years old. It was when he gave shows like the Wiggles and Telly Tubbies the flick and never looked back, (much to his mothers horror). It will always have that place in my heart.

    3. Transformers Armada. Same reason as Zoids except my son was older and he used to play with the toys. I would also like to add Transformers Armada on PS2 would have to be one of the best games in its time.

    Watership Down (Martin Rosen, 1978)

My "big three" would have to be, in order of viewing them:
    Walt Disney's "Fantasia",
the 60s TV series "Jonny Quest" (particularly the episode in the Andes with the ex-pat WWI German fighter pilot who tries to shoot down Race Bannon ,
    and
    Ralph Bakshi's "Wizards".

    All the best,
