This now was becoming deadly serious, Guynemer's scout was badly damaged he had to return to base now, but then out of no were from another burst from the German pilot's machine gun a bullet tore through Guynemer's skull killing him, it was a small mercy as now his scout was quickly turning into a fireball, and his scout hurtled toward's the ground and exploaded. What happened to the enraged German pilot who know's, his plane was still on fire so he most likely met his fate like poor Guynemer.

Looks more like execution than dogfight. Guynemer did not have his day...
    Thanks for sharing.

Neat map! Kudos to the German pilot for staying in the fight even though afire. Perhaps he should be decorated? BTW, I've been meaning to ask you, how does the Alby D.II perform? I own the D.III and D.Va but not this one...yet anyways.

Well Guynemer was really out of him. Great to see these planes in action. But they are so expensive....
    Thanks

According to Dicta Boelcke, Oswald just pressed on the target. Hs sticked to his own rule ignoring the fire. Well fought, Mark.
Was it a solo play and who ran the phantom?
I think it would be interesting to force Oswald to draw all fire damage cards before leaving the play. What do you think?
    Andy.

Yes, I agree, Boelcke should have to finish playing with his fire before touting his victory.

    Nice battle there Mark.

Thanks Cole for the kind word's, the matt is one of the official gaming matt's, I had to retire my old Axis & Allies paper matt as it was getting rather tatty, the Albatros D.II handled very well during it's maiden flight.

Thanks Andy, I controlled both scout's during the game, Oswald only took one A damage whilst his scout was ablaze, because the game was over very quickly, but to be honest I don't think neither of them would of lived very long if the game continued the way it was going.

Nice fight Mark, but I am a bit unsure of how Guynemer died by a bullet through the head when no pilot wound card was drawn?

Nice and neat 1 on 1. I would echo Andrzej's remarks and draw the remaining fire damage cards for Boelke or have him over dive then draw.

Only just got to look at this. Nice for a first AAR (is that right?).

I usually post up our duels... which are usually epic, action filled, and very brutal.
Nice to keep the theme going

Any shots from WoG in Italy with Marco yet Mark?

It will be pretty much as the Pfalz D.III Cole but with one less side slip eachway.

The start was promising, but he ended like a rookie...
